Well, Alleg has a lot of good points. However, it has a low population, a high learning curve, and a lot of old drunken idiots with no lives that play and bash noobs. I would like to thank Babelfish and TheCorsair for being among the... well the only players that were helpful while learning to play this game. I have seen mmo's far superior to this one die because of the sheer number of douchebags in the playing community when the population was already low and the learning curve was high. This was my second time trying to get into this game, the only one of its kind at the moment, but like the last time, about a year ago, I just find there isn't any patience for those learning the game, after a month or so and still making a goof or two only to be ranted on against for 10 minutes being repeatedly told I am a retard for some minor thing (like only equipping 1 dis2 instead of all three slots w/ dis 2 when we are being attacked by an effing bbr with nan support by a guy that say we gives commands to go and doesn't, then spews profanity at everyone for not following a command that was never given and he isn't com anyway) without letting up I just quit.
Sick of that sort of endless bashing happening, and since it just wasn't going to stop for hours I just plain quit. Not just that match, the game in general. There is no real great strategy for teaching new players and unforgiving consequences for even the slightest mistakes. There are not enough players for newbie games and w/o vets teaching newbies there is little point in newbie games anyway. So a GAME which is supposed to be FUN isn't fun when every time you PLAY you are told you are a RETARD, SHUT THE F*CK UP, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU... etc. etc. As a gamer I know loosing sucks, however, there needs to be some way that new players can learn from vets w/o being a burden and destroying their scores, and furthermore, people need to learn the line between frustration and relentlessly beating a guy down and going on, and on, and on when it was a simple mistake (and we killed the bbr anyway).
In a large game the mistakes of a new player can be dissipated among the masses, however, with a small playing population this can't happen. As this game is SO dependent on individual's actions that an entire team of vets can fail from a single mistake and have their overall ranking affected (actually, downgraded?) is a recipe for EPIK PHAIL. Also, with this ranking system that pits wins vs. losses, it is essentially the case that for a new player to rank up, a veteran has to be demoted as there are a fixed number of rank points in the community, unless there is some other way to get experience points or w/e you may call it, I believe this would have to be the case.
So there you have it, those are my parting criticisms as I don't like to simply leave in a bloody rage, I like to be politically correct about it (but you’re all douchebags and that is really the only reason I quit, because it isn't fun anymore to be raged at for half an hour). So, adios and hope (with the exception of the two aforementioned players) lot of you burn in hell.
Just some advice from a gamming veteran that has seen games come and go

Yes, there are some douches around, but if you think they have no lives you have no idea of the community as a whole.Dracus_Prime wrote:QUOTE (Dracus_Prime @ Apr 13 2010, 12:58 AM) Well, Alleg has a lot of good points. There's the AFS or Allegiance Flight School where vets answer the questions that any newbie may have about the game. There's also the wiki, with all the info about how the game works. Also, the @Help guys always answer any question you may have, the admins @Alleg are also always friendly to everyone, and mostly any vet is willing to help. The only people that doesn't help newbies are just voobs which you shouldn't even talk to.
Maybe you should have tried to contact the community a little more before writing a wall of text about it??

This game is based on team work, not individual actions. Again you show no knowledge about what you're saying. A well syncronized team of average players can beat the vets dream team if they start $#@!ing around.
Also, no, there's no such thing as "a fixed number of rank points". That's plain bull@#(! you made out of nowhere. The ranking system follows an statisticall method an takes a lot more factors into account than just win or lose, such as the stack rating, the time playing, etc. Your "believing" about what would have to be the case shows (again) you know nothing about what are you talking about.

Welcome to Allegiance, the good thing about this game is that its difficulty keeps jerks who think they know everything out of it.
ACS grad since 2nd Feb. 2010Just a few quick points. You never did AFS, correct? That entire program is designed to help new players like you. The guys who run it put in a lot of time and effort to help train up new guys and here you are saying "There is no real great strategy for teaching new players." That's just wrong. If you asked any of the @help people, the @AFS leadership or really if you just PMed a vet with a question, you would find an outpouring of support. Way more support than you would get in any other free game on the internet. However, seeing as you just told everyone to burn in hell, I doubt anyone will now go out of their way to help you and you will probably get flamed from the less tolerant members of this community.
Secondly, you are completly wrong about the ranking system. Have you ever read the wiki? There are pages upon pages of detailed information not just about the ranking system, but about every aspect of this game. So when you say "this ranking system that pits wins vs. losses, it is essentially the case that for a new player to rank up, a veteran has to be demoted as there are a fixed number of rank points in the community" you obviously have never even bothered to read about it since its a completely incorrect statement.
Lastly, a rant in general is rather boring for drama purposes without names.

To be fair to Dracus there was a vet laying into him and the rest of the team specifically tonight.
He is however incorrect when he says there's no organised new player training.
I hope you calm down and stay Dracus. While I say that have you checked out the Flight School?
I also believe you have badly misunderstood the ranking system.
Anyway - I hope you calm down and reconsider - the voob who was ranting was on the boundaries of what I consider acceptable, and when I asked for calm he stopped.

You complain about the lack of newbie support, yet I can find no trace of your having applied to our flight school or cadet program. Learning from those could well have let you avoid making many of the mistakes you claim to have made, and indicated to others that you were willing and in the process of learning.
But I guess you were just too good to learn from us douchebags.
Have fun pew-pewing in CS/WoW/etc.

They're not yelling profanity at you, damn it, they're yelling it at the people who've been around long enough that they ought to know better. Can we put that into the Tip of the Day thing or the Common Newbie Mistakes thing or something? Because every single newbie brings it up.
Dracus, you're wrong. No way around it, you're wrong about a lot of things there. Lot of it's understandable since you never went through AFS or anything, but you know what? On the internet, anyone can spew profanity! It's one of the things that makes the internet great, in fact! And pretty much every game without central moderation, such as pretty much every first-person shooter and space combat sim (technically, Alleg does have central moderation, but they don't give a $#@! and I love them for that) has that problem, and everyone who plays one of those games has to deal with it either by muting the offending player, turning on the chat filter, or growing a $#@!ing thick skin. I just don't get how people can be internet-savvy enough to find this game, yet somehow be unable to handle verbal abuse from a bunch of morons in a chatroom.
