Problem Encountered at Step #: 7
Which Program (ASGS/Allegiance): Allegiance
What Error Message: none
Comments (What you tried, description, etc):
so, when it comes to auto update, it retrieves the filelist.txt and then it downloads nothing. I can see only 1 file (cc_08.igc, 13KB) in AutoUpdate directory (and filelist.txt).
I tried running in compatibility mode, administrator rights (or whatever is called in english:P), gave full control and removed "read-only" label to all files in Allegiance directory, but the progress bar is standing still (not advancing) nor I can see traffic on my connection.

Thanks in advance :)

P.S. ASGS seems to be working fine, w/o errors.

edit: If I wait a bit longer it gives an error:
Update attempt at: 3/8/10 at 21:06:16 (local time)
InternetQueryDataAvailable() Failed.(12002)

edit2: or, could someone who managed to make allegiance work with win7 64bit describe me step by step (or at least the not-obvious ones) to install and run it? thx :D

Try and disable or uninstall (or both) Zone Alarm. i know I had some problems with it and allegiance. If you uninstall be sure to restart. If it works without ZoneAlarm you can use the windows firewall.

Run Allegiance by itself with Administrator privileges. Do this by right clicking Allegiance.exe and selecting Run as Administrator. Let it autoupdate.

Something (firewall) is blocking the HTTP protocol, so you get this timeout message.

I tried to reinstall allegiance and now I can't even let ASGSUpdate re-download the Allegiance.exe file as it starts to dl but then it stops midway:

I uninstalled avira and zonealarm, deactivated windows firewall but nothing, it just stops downloading :|

ah, it doen't give me any error, just sitting still and doing nothing

I've read about someone else having this issue, but apparently it cleared itself up after a while. Did you reboot after removing those things?

Another thing you can try... I'm presuming that you still have the original installer and that your download is simply trying to overwrite the existing file. If there's a bad sector on the drive it's possible that can hang things. Try renaming (NOT DELETING) the old installer then try downloading again. (If you simply delete the file, your download may very well try to write to the exact same sector and we want to avoid that.

Check Internet Explorer (even if you don't use it) and make sure Work Offline isn't checked.

so... after a break I'm trying again to get alleg working on my laptop (wihout success since I'm writing here :P )

(now I have avast as antivirus and windows firewall)

Well, I downloaded the new allegsetup258.exe and ASGS seems to work fine.
Then, when trying to autoupdate (new cc09b files etc) it gives me this error:
InternetQueryDataAvailable() Failed.(12002)

Ok, I said, let me find something in the forums and I found this post:
http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...st&p=493767

I downloaded the cc09b package and copied in the artwork folder.
Just a problem, it seems that I need other files too: something about faohbkamb.
Then, surprise, it autoupdated... just some files: faohbkamb01-07.wav, then it stucked again (with faohbkamb08.wav).

That's strange, it refuses to download some specific files.

Now everytime I start Allegiance it gives me this error with autoupdate.
I tried to rename some faohbkamb files and it re-download them flawlessly, except it got stucked with faohbkamb08.wav again.

Any idea? It seems it's not a permission problem, since it can write files in that folder (anyway I ran with admin privileges but it's no use)

If you want,I'll e-mail you just that file. You can put it into your artwork file and see if that fixes it.

It would be great, thanks.
The only problem is that I need 12 more files, and for sure I'm missing faohbkamb08.wav, faohbkamb09.wav and faohbkamb10.wav
To find the other files I should compare the FileList.txt and the "ls" output, but I'm not very practical with diff :P

If you could send me or upload those (three) files somewhere, I'd be very grateful :)

thx for the reply
