This entire topic is scattered everywhere...

Yes I realize Im being an @#$%@#

I dont mean to be one.
*looks at Red specifically* It shows why I hold you in such high regard and yeah the youtube thing is my personal opinion *crosses off the list*

Please for the love of God (not Spidey in this case) see the message.

I'm sure given all the contributors to date that they can, could, and will provide a superior front page but each time I see one it feels "a work in progress:
Ffs this page has the text clipped by the pictures!

Im taking it from the view that this is THE page and to date both have (to me) glaringly obvious things going on... and not just the youtube thingie Red ;)

If you spent stupid amounts of time dealing with this one and Ive pissed you off... Mea Culpa

The page looks awesome. But once again, TE jumped the gun and threw the design out there into production (seemingly) without any thought.

There are obvious typos, the autostart needs to stop, & several of the critiques need to either be rejected or implemented.

Just a point here for those that don't like the new front page - dont go to it? When I go to FAO I go straight to the forums anyway - so my link to FAO in my bar is to the forums, NOT the front page. Looking at these new ones is the first time ive gone to the front page in months

We aren't making the page for us....we are making it to try to bring in new players

Yep and how Im viewing it other then the scroll down to hit the forum button thingie.

Neither of the pages feels finished and why Im continuously confused by the poll vs the page vs the comments

If this and the previous example are the "final" version then no, absolutely not, they are substandard to the existing page.
Basically because the glaring flaws sink any of their benefits.

If these are in fact prototype pages, then by all means lets move forward. Make a choice, take input, fix the obvious issues, and then have a finished product.

If you spend a 1000 hours polishing a rusted out bucket of bolts.....

My impression is these efforts are early days so why the hell are we using them as the official landing page?

Ok you've heard my piece, rinse. and repeat. Goes to corner AGAIN ;)

If I interpreted his posts correctly, TE is putting up unfinished pages to provoke community members into action, on the logic that if he doesn't do anything we'll all just sit around and talk and no finished product will ever be made, but if he puts up the best currently available prototype, everyone will rush to point out its flaws, thus refining it, and quickly moving towards a finished product. :P

Anyway I think the current page is pretty awesome (pretty and awesome) and SpaceJunk already said he's soon going to send a new version of the page for upload with autoplay turned off, smaller award logos, and the code fixed to work on IE and Opera. :)

Here is a nice simple page I threw together that is more finished than anything we have now and integrates with the look of the forums.

... No. That look is good for a forum. It's not so good for an attention-grabbing front page that will be the first thing people see of the game. And no, to be frank, it does not look even remotely more finished than anything we have now.

You must be joking. The front page has typos, broken code, and is generally unpolished. This is ready to go live.
