biggest games are saturday and sunday around noon to 6pm EST, although on sundays at 3pm there are squad games and since most players are in squads it kills main until a few games end

Squads tend to recruit people who they see being useful in game.
A good way to get noticed is to sign up for the community run training courses (AFS, and later - CDT-II)
