TeeJ wrote:QUOTE (TeeJ @ Jan 18 2010, 02:04 PM) To the topic of not seeing @help tags; most of those involved with @help are also involved in many other things within the game or their own squads. This implies that those in @help are productive members of this community and wear many hats (not ^).

I don't mind wearing my @help tag, but I don't log in with it everytime for one reason; Sometimes I am in a mood to where it is very likely that I am going to tell someone to $#@! off while I am logged in. When I very first got the tag we were using hiders for them. I logged into a semi-latenight game to where a particular person and I had a nice (sarcasm) exchange of words. Once I realized I had the tag on, I esc x'd and came back under my main nick to berate him as he deserved.

I said this early on after @help was created....I am doing nothing really different than I was before the tag was created. I try to answer questions and help as best as I can. I do this because it was done for me, and it fits inline with my personality in all other life domains; helping others.

I can do this with, or without the tag, and I do. However I feel it is important that we wear the tags on the Main server so that if a new pilot is there, and he is aware that we @helps exist, they know who to ask.

*makes note to wear @help tag more often.* Guess I will have to keep my med levels more "even".

PS for pure awesomeness, copy and paste the link in my sig. I promise it is not a Rickroll, or anything of the sorts.

One additonal thing oh medicated one. When you fly the tag, make a point of being willing to sacrifice say an hour of your life to the newbie server. Idling tends to draw a crowd. You WILL be presently suprised by the fish you snare

Now I get, why camaro deserves to be the ASL of @help. He is the guy who lures all the new guys into playing Alleg by sitting on NOAT constantly.

Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Jan 18 2010, 01:48 PM) I've done this with SouthPaw.

It was a success, the newbies had fun and are still around.
I would suggest throwing in a couple of wing leaders as well as the commanders if possible (obviously commanders could cover both roles) and have it as an event every week or two.

It's a great idea, too bad we can't put a monitor on the # of players on the newbie server to email out to the @HELP when there are more than 4 ppl on the server so someone can drop in and let them know about the games.

I would be happy to help out, PM if you need extra help ever.

Also probably would be a good idea to coordinate with the Marketing team ;)

Cheers!

Clearly we need advanced heuristic commander AI which even challenges the best of the best of the best of the best commanders in the community (which is Aarmstrong, if he ever gets back and brushes off that rust :P ).

I have had good experiences with wearing the @Help on main server, though only during low activity hours. At prime time, it's really useful to have a helper sitting in the newb server, and I've found you usually don't have to wait long for the first (0) to come along. The only big problem I've had with newb servers is that they sometimes get set to nov. only, which blocks us from joining.

up the threshold a bit maybe?? I shouldn't be on the newbie server unless I am there to help but it would be nice to be able to pitch in now and then when I have the time... hmm junior @HELP's maybe?

anything that engages more of the community can't be a bad thing :)
