Just because he can't have Gothmog's.

Ok,back on topic.

The following is a joke...please don't recommend me being fed to Brood:

"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes."

Jimen wrote:QUOTE (Jimen @ Jan 17 2010, 04:10 PM) Ghost, people usually get booted because they're consistently being unproductive, not keeping their eye on the ball, or doing stupid @#(!. A lot of the times people come here and whine on the boards about how they think they're getting booted just because they're unpopular, and after two pages of drama it turns out they're an idiot who doesn't have their priorities straight.

Mryd: The standard response of "get better" really fits here, because there's only really five things that ever need to be done in Alleg: miner d, miner o, con d, con o, and the occasional base d/base attack. Everything else (probing, camping, podding people) all feeds into the accomplishment of one of those four objectives. So when people come here to complain about always getting booted, they should start playing during games and thinking to themselves "am I doing something that contributes to the team, or am I uselessly chasing after a solo scout 4k away from a miner?" Likewise, most questions of "where should we go, what should we do" melt away pretty quickly if you know where their miners are (and if not, get in a scout and find them).
It's still not a solution to the core problem... which is still a communication issue. It's a team game and *any* team based game needs good communication.

The point you make is not valid, if your attacking miners when the comm wants you to do something else you can get booted (please don't dispute this, otherwise I will have to troll throw old message board posts). The main point still stands, good communication will take care of 99% of these issues.

The secondary effect of a good communication system is that there is no way in hell that anyone can say 'I didn't know!!'.

The five areas you state are true, what you leave out is when/where, doing miner D when your base is being attacked and your going to lose is pointless, attacking enemy miners when you need the whole team on a base attack run, etc etc.

You need good communication to pull it off (how many squads use TS? I am betting that most use it for SG, most online squads from other games use TS or Vent for this very reason, it's way easier and faster to tell people than to write it out).

the 'Get Better' statement is a work around to the core problem and is one of the main reasons, IMO, that Allegiance doesn't have a bigger following (Quake etc doesn't really need team play to make it work, Allegiance HAS TO HAVE IT :) )

Cheers

I have had 0 experiences where boots are caused by a communication issue. None at all. I'm not sure why you keep harping about how it's always a communication issue, and my only guess is that you're doing it because you've been booted and you want to protect your ego.

Let me make this clear for every newbie and voob and vet who gets booted:

If you are booted, 99.99% of the time it is because you screwed up. Not because the commander didn't communicate, not because he was just being a dick, but because you did something wrong. Maybe the commander overreacted when he booted you, maybe not, but stop trying to pass off the fact that you sucked for a few critical seconds in a game as anything other than that: you sucking for a few critical seconds in a game.

Don't take boots personally, but please for the love of god stop passing the buck off on people other than you. Every time you say "I was booted because the commander didn't communicate!" you become a stubborn noob who refuses to learn. Instead if you say, "I was booted because I was camping a teleport instead of the aleph the BBR was coming from and that cost us an outpost" you might find that you have something to learn; i.e. when to camp teleports and when to camp alephs. Then you do this amazing thing called "learning," you end up being better at this game, and suddenly you're hardly ever booted!

If you feel like the reason you are being booted, mry, is that you didn't know wtf you were supposed to be doing, and you find this happens a lot, imagine for a second that it's not that every commander you've ever had just sucks ass, but rather that you suck ass at reading the chat. Then you can maybe learn to focus more and be more aware, and you just might find that you are saying "Gee, I didn't know what I needed to do" less often!

TL/DR:

Most of the time you're booted it's your fault. Don't take boots personally, but rather take them as an opportunity to learn how to play better.

The other day P1 failed to defend our miner from a solo fig in his mini 3 dumb 2 booster 2 heavy int. The miner had a nan.

I didn't boot him because at least he TRIED to kill it even if he failed.

Just sayin
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

Dont worry. I was booted by Vir yesterday and by downey within like 10min. Downey booted me at the beginning of the game "before I could do somehing stupid" he said and Vir booted me then resigned.
