Borked Sound

Video Card (Make and Model#): NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000
Sound Card (Make and Model#): NVIDIA ® nForce ™ Audio manager.
Connection Type (Dialup, Cable, DSL, other): Cable (12mps I'm told, but it doesn't seem to go that fast)
Modem (Make and Model#): Motorola? Something or other. Can't figure out the model#, don't think it's relevant
Router (Make and Model#): Don't think I have one
Internet Service Provider(company name): Comcast
Location(State/Province/Locality, and Country): Minnesota, USA
Installed Mods: Keymap, Aim cursor

Make and Version of firewall: Standard Windows one.
Make and version of anti-virus: A whole lot? None of them running unless I tell them to, so they shouldn't interfere with Alleg(?)

Confirm that you have the following installed:

This is not technically an issue running Allegiance, but it would help immensely if I had sound when I played. I'm not actually that optimistic that this will get it fixed, since a few guys have looked at it now, but I'm running out of options. The speakers DO work, I've used them on other comps before and after I'm having issues on this one. Everywhere I look, Device Manager, dxdiag and the like it says that I have no sound issues. The troubleshooter will no longer load. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the card and drivers a couple of times. There are no viruses, since it just got nuked. When one of the guys was looking at the BIOS, he said it was weird that in a sound option he was looking at there was no "on" option, only "auto" and "off". It was once suggested that I plug it into different ports (what would typically be the microphone input and something else), because those can get switched somehow apparently, but that didn't work.

I feel like I'm forgetting something that was tried, but I can't remember now. Any help/advice you guys can offer would be extremely appreciated. If you need any more info, just ask and I'll get it for you.

Could you give me some more detail? Like what exactly is borked? Which motherboard are you using?

Everything about the sound is borked. There simply is no sound.

I'm not sure what the motherboard is, as I didn't install it myself; how can I get this information for you?

a program called CPUZ should tell you everything you need to know about ur compy.

Wow my comp seems to be NVidia everything. My out-of-contact brother, who built this POS must love them or something.
