banned?

wtf? striker?
if i recall correctly i've been banned
* yesterday
* 3 years ago for fake noobin' at christmas (which i had been doing consistently every christmas since i started)

and that's it. maybe you have some kind of records, but at least that's all i can recall, i see it as the most in-your-face slap that management of this free game that doesn't cost me @#(! to play gives me and i've always (in the, what 6 years now? 2000 hours gametime logged) tried to play by whatever rules are enforced. getting in troll arguments on the forums is great fun and all, but in game i HONESTLY try to be a real asset to our community. i know how to command and do my best in teaching the voobs to make for a better GAMING experience for us all. i try to NOT be a dick in general and if i bitch out at anyone (still in game) it's usually a vet commander, dsm, spideycw or my squadmates. the ONLY "rule" the community management ever has put forward which i go to hell and back to support myself is the one that goes "everyone get's to play".

that one, plus a few of my own personal ones ("even commanders = good games", "give the noob a chance", "obnoxious drunks = fun") guide my actions in game.

that said, i would NEVER EVER EVER EVER, not even after 2 bottles of weedmans special reserve, hostage a game a 'la bladeofboob, and ruin 30 peoples good time for 20 minutes each ( that's 3-6-lots of man-hours!) for ANY reason.

when going into bottle number 2 of WSR i might start to command badly, yelling at my commander to buy ridiculous stuff and @#(! like that. i never whine about being booted for such shenanigans, it's part of the game and very nicely self regulating at that. @allegs like finger@#$%@# ARE NOT REQUIRED!!!!! @allegs like blake who gets online to boot an afk commander on euro time are nice to have handy (although not required since the upgrade where you can just make new servers).. we always have lobby ban for the VERY difcult cases of @#$%@#ry and the IN GAME community i feel is pretty much self regulated.

oh and also to clarify, i never actually paid attention to anything finger wrote. not because i didn't want to but because i was pm:ing with a @#(!load of people after a (GREAT) 2 hour game just ended. so i didn't see any warnings, and reading the logs that he posted today, i still would not have yielded command to penispk but rather done a onemanbucket vs virulence game (which was the pm i was typing to virulence as i got booted iirc).

tll;dr version:
* i hate having my name smeared by an uncalled for "hostage game" ban
* fingerdick ruined my christmas night allegiance by banning me for 3 hours
* everyone who was actually playing at the time seems to take my side (even penis1@pk)

what i want:
* remove finger@#$%@#s banstick, he obviously can't handle it and shows poor judgement.

also thanks agian for that gt vs giga game mcwarren + players. it was one of the best pugs in a while! we showed a lot of people that figspideys can still be beaten!

On another note, pheonix1 is an ACS grad so isn't completely clueless in the comm chair. He has also commanded PK at least once so there shouldn't be a reason to tell him no.

OFC I wasn't there and I'm just saying P1 isn't the worst comm out there and is by no way on the same lines as Yiggz and starfire.

edit: again, I don't know who the other commander was so P1 could've been totally outclassed.

Also by nature - every one makes a few calls others will disagree with. I notice there are never any threads about how awesome Finger is for booting afk commanders for the late night but instead we get this = /

I can see both sides of it and tbh next time bucket should just send a pm to bv/paps and all the rest of you in this thread should have worked on some Allegiance improving task. If you lack ideas for an Alleg improving task you can do please see me and I will assign you one.

doorjam, sure, me and pelvis4@pk formulated a plan to push him to the next level of commanding on irc when i couldn't log back in

but still he was not the best match for terran (who had the other team). had i gotten some more time we would have seen bacon vs terran, or omb vs virulence which is much better imho

Case and point - the time spent posting in this thread could have been used by shooting off a quick pm to bv and paps and then posting some feedback for @ACS students besides "lulz great game - masta and i were sooooooo drunk"

Good feedback is always welcomed in my book. There is always room for improvement in any given area. I have no personal issue discussing a subject someone feels unjust about as long as it stays civil and respectful. Calling someone names and using expletives is not a good way of gaining someone's attention (well not the good type in any case).

Bucket, I meant this isn't your first run-in. I wasn't trying to sound like you do this once a week or anything.

You have been around long enough to know the rules and what does and doesn't fly. Regardless, I do understand if you didn't see the PM.

Even though the ban was only for a few hours, you still should have contacted BV or Paps and this 3 page fiasco could have been avoided. There was no reason to start a thread calling out the @Alleg who pulled the trigger.
