from a dos prompt on solap:

sc failure nameofTAGservice actions= restart/30000/restart/30000// reset= 60

This sets the tag service (assuming you type the right name up there) to attempt a restart upon failure after 30 seconds (30000ms), restart again 30 seconds later, then fail, wait 60 seconds (why they used seconds there instead of milliseconds like everywhere else is beyond me) then try restarting again.

This can all be done through the services gui, of course, I'm just used to calling sc in scripts.

If someone wants to send me a copy of the TAG service or is willing to walk me through an allegiance server setup from scratch on win2k3, I could probably configure the 2003 performance monitor to send e-mail alerts whenever TAG is down.

In the service gui, under the Recover tab, First Second and Subsequent failure boxes are set to "restart the service".

Guess I wasn't to clear after all. We got the box thingies checked and all. It's always come back up automatically in the past, but I had to give Solap a hard boot a few days back and maybe that was what happened  . If this issue continues you can be damn sure I'll be stopping by IRC to get your two cents. Thanks Bard :iluv:

It was probably the re-install of the server for R5. It recreates the service entries.
This was the problem with the lobby service a few weeks ago :s :s
