As a side node this tourney only assigns 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements. Everybody else is said, "better luck next time."

4th place is the only other place which doesnt require a play-off though

And we could do play-offs for the other places. After first squads drop, they can have those play-offs while the remaining fight for the title. Maybe use it do that next year?

You could do this -- and it was done last year indeed -- except the odd number of teams means it's three teams, not two, going for the last three places. This would take too many games.

So feel free to blame either MW or Cheezitis.
