OK, so I can connect to the beta lobby when using ASGS, but can't when running allegiance.exe directly (the motd message doesn't come up and the games list button never becomes clickable).

Any ideas? Should I be running Allegiance.exe with some arguments?

Works for me both ways without any switches?

Did you set up the Beta with Madp's Beta Switcher? You can find it in the first post of thisthread, along with other stuff about getting the Beta working (This referred to R5 so I'm not sure how much is still applicable.....)

The beta lobby is completely messed up right now (or rather: changing every hour its complete configuration) and it will probably stay that way for a few more days. Sorry, bad timing for starting to work on this. :)

For example, it required ASGS authentication for a few hours yesterday.

Cort - couple of quick questions about the Beta server and stuff

Are you creating a new branch in SVN I should be following? Will the client I built for Sai of of the R5 branch work the same with the (R6?) Beta server when it's back up? (Or has the code already changed?)Does Madp's Beta switcher still have a use - or am I pointing Sai in the wrong direction.Where are the snowdons of yesteryear?

There will probably be an FAZR6 branch for now. I haven't created it yet though, and it might take another day or two. I'll try to remember announcing it.

It should for a while. In fact, the fazdev gameserver code hasn't changed from when Sai or DB last deployed it. I haven't touched it myself and will probably leave that to Sai for now.

I just had to test something with the lobby yesterday. (Lobby != gameserver, two different processes.)

I don't know what it does, unfortunately. I have never used it. I will investigate and talk to madp, but that isn't going to happen this week.

*rolls for a funny response, but the die runs off the table and falls into the trash*

PS: I split this off of the other thread, because I feel like that is too important to derail it.

I tried the madp switcher, but got an error. Mebbe it was bc if asgs being on. I'll try again tonight when I get home.

Do we have a wiki entry on server maintenance? If not, we should have one. The wiki supports non-public entries, right?

The ones I've played with did so maybe we could have a nonpublic section?

Sorry, I should've mentioned this before: The dev lobby should be working again for "fairly recent" client builds. (Without ASGS, or using the official R5 release with ASGS. But for the latter, you'd need to fumble around with your registry (it uses the \1.0 key, which normally points to the main lobby), so better don't unless you know what you're doing.)

Unfortunately, I can't promise it stays that way for the next days.

Why should this information not be public?

This.

Also, no - the Wiki does not support non-public entries (insert Clay bitching here :P )

I dunno? This forum is private, so I thought instructions meant only for game server operators would be private? Maybe not though, since this is for discussion/coordination primarily, not just setup, right? SOrry, I'm new here:).
