Unlike the PW gat sprites, PE gats use the exact same sprite between the different levels of the gat. The only difference is the sprite size as determined by the core. We can either replace the current set with one that scales better (the current gat sprite has that annoying teal aura around the center), or leave the current gat1 sprite and create new ones for gat2 and gat3. I've made a couple as examples, see below.

The upside to new sprites is that we can fix some of the issues with the current set, namely that teal aura I mentioned, and the scale is also a bit more adjustable. You'd also be able to tell the difference between the different levels of gat like you can with the PW versions.

The downside is that anyone with a modded sprite would only have a modded gat1 at that point. Not a big issue since they hopefully won't need a modded sprite for the new gat versions. On that note, they'd be able to mod the different levels individually at that point anyways. The major downside is actually pushing the two new artwork files out, since we've had a hiccup trying to get the fuel & ammo icons on AU.

Here's some pictures on the gat sprites and the quick ones I whipped up:

Gat 1(this is the current sprite)
Gat 2
Gat 3

Alternatively someone with more inspiration than my copy/paste/fade might create or have better sprites.

Personally I'd like gat1 sprites reduced as well, if we get a good response we will go ahead and do that

Nice sprites, but why should TF have different size sprits than the others anyway?

Thats exactly my question!

TF right now uses one sprite. All it does it make it bigger as you get gat2 and gat3.

Why should any faction be any different from any of the others?

It might have something to do with the fact that....TF GUNS AREN'T LIKE THE OTHERS

you can currently mod your sprites to look like david hasslehoff if you want, and we arent talking about making them the same, just smaller so you can actually see around them

Them being smaller to compensate for loss of lead indicator is reasonable.

Fwiffo simply was checking through each faction to check for factional consistencies - i.e. maintenance of faction unique traits throughout their techtrees.

And Adept is trying to ascertain why TF sprites are so based on balance assumptions. Backed up by Xer and Brood given the loss of lead indicators which now mean you have to actually look where you're shooting.

Please, read first, then read again, then think. Then read a third time, and think again, before posting your crap that doesn't help anyway.

ps. very nice sprites, especially the gat3, it's actually quite cool to see the reduction in flare effect as the tech level goes up.
