This idea stems from Raingriffin and Andon, I feel it is such a good idea I want it to be added into CC as a starbase weapon.

Think a aleph resonator that is emp based. Strips shields and mines but leaves everything else in shape. This allows for interceptors to wait as this bomb goes off then to storm a adv fig camp with much greater success.

This can also be used for other tech paths clearly (even for a tp2 scout to sneak into an enemy sector as it will clear mines and he can fly though full speed shields down)

I pre-pose it starts off the same cost as current resonators or even be linked to the current ones (research level 1 res and you get both).

I think this idea has massive merits and I want feedback to see if I'm just being an excited kid on christmas morning, or if this is indeed three slices of awesome.

I think an already-coded-but-not-yet-in-the-code equivalent already exists: one-sided aleph res.

It isn't the same though, the one sided is 100% advantage for the attackers, and the enemy will die. This will have more strategic efforts with the fact defenders CAN stay but lose their shields.

Old Phoenix medium assault shields and large shields are both highly resistant to aleph res damage, but not entirely immune. To obtain a similar effect, couldn't a shield for ints be added with 100% resistance to aleph res' damage type, no recharge, something tiny like 5 hp and no special resist vs. anything else?

You could just duplicate aleph res, and change it's DM class to the same as EMP missile.

Or you could just make a new res which only hurts shields and not hull, Large Shields and Med Asslt Shields weren't made specially resistant to aleph res's, res's were made more weaker towards large shields, this isn't some new hard project which needs a code change, its a simple core modification which would take a couple of minutes.

So far good responses. Yes the damage class of the proposed would be EMP.

Any other thoughts?
