At the vert beginning of a mission, I thought I'd experiment with the command interface and stopped donating to the commander (and then took a scout to deploy probes, dunno if that matters).

I was immediately and without warning kicked, and banned from the Thal DN server. Why is that?

This made me realize the most important negative aspect of having a single server to play (and none to experiment) on. Oh, well...

Stopping to donate is like saying "Please boot me".
However, the comm should have given you a warning. Maybe he did and you missed it? Check your chat logs ( If you enabled chat logging in ASGS that is ).

Edit: Read more about it here:
Allegiance Academy

Edit 2: You are allowed up to three User names. Just make another name and continue playing. I do suggest you take some time reading the Alleg Academy though, it will make your life much easier. Allegiance is a very complicated but rewarding game.

that's because stopping to donate to a commander is a sign of mutiny (if your team stops to donate, the commander will be ovethrown), and is considered very rude.

only stop to donate if your commader explicitley orders you to. (or at least ask him if you can experiment a bit with it)

aib you've played alleg before? Or on a friends computer that has played awhile? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I'm asking as you didn't have a (#) after your callsign signifying you were new to the game. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Commanders don't have much time to think about what your reasons are for doing things like not donating, they give an order and expect it followed, then if booting happens they apologize later... like I usually do. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Woah thanks for the helpful replies...

Yup, I've read a bit of the academy now, and am continuing to do so. (And yes, this is my 2nd day or so playing)

I was asked to resume donating? I didn't see that, though, it does take me some time to remember how to switch between the screens, I could've missed it.

I don't have a (#) next to my callsign (or actually, it's 10), I think it's because I got this account a while back, though I wouldn't know why I'd be listed as an "Intern. 5".

I did not see the comm (or anyone else) tell me to turn the thing back on. I did not even had the time to. A voice message could have helped. I cannot apologize to the comm as I didn't even have time to get his name. Oh, well...

I'm off to find out how to create a newbie account. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I was the comm. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

To get your (#) reset you could post in the helpline and give a short explanation. Or you could quickly read up on the finer points of the academy, it's probably easier or faster that way.

I think you were 1 of 3 of the boots, you for not donating, another for sitting in base, and the third for asking to have money saved for him getting an expensive omni fighter while he sat in base that was under attack- I've lost too many bases to people in situation where having them launch in an adv ftr will be just fine thank you instead of waiting for cash for an omni fighter while the base is under attack (in his defence he was he said commenting on the omni for later and was going to launch).

Ah well. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Just chalk it up to learning pains and move on.

As far as making a newbie account, you won't be able to, or at least it is difficult to do so.
To prevent 'vets' from posing and newb (as well as a number of other reasons), accounts are linked. While no 'personal' info is gathered, the system knows enough about where you logged in from to prevent you from making a completely new account. It will just get linked to your oldest one as soon as you login in from the same system.

If you really want your rank reset (there are pro and cons to do that) PM TigerEye or BV, or better yet, post the request in the Help forum.

If you want to play around with com or the 'interface' jump on an empty server with one or two other people to mess around.

As a side note, not directed at you aib, but other's here might appreciate it, "Why is it a newb can find the stop donating button in 5 seconds flat, but is all thumbs trying to figure out how to start donating again?"
