This may require a code change, but it seems really handy.

What would it take to make ingame icons dynamic? I am specifically thinking of an indicator of some kind that will change based on the status of the ship or drone. A valuable use would be to see of a con or IC miner was ripping. How many times has a con or miner been under attack, and re ordered to rip resetting the rip timer? I imagine that there are a plethora (thank you Three Amigos) of uses for dynamic artwork, such as seeing if friendly ships are cloaked, missiles loaded, ripping, etc.

I realize this is a lot of info to display on one icon, but could it possibly be displayed elsewhere?

Bump. Was this such a bad idea that no one even bothered to flame me over it?

I think this is a good idea. I honestly didn't see the post until just now.
Assuming you are yellow team, say Icons would flash red if they are ripping and turn green when they are cloaked.

That would be very useful.

probably not worth the time to code it. Especially since

is simply false.

True rock but it would stop those times when a drone is ripping and someone orders it somewhere else.

I think this might be a good place to start to learn to code. Where would be a good place to start? I have some experience in C++ but that is it. Suggestions?

Getting it to build would be a good place to start ;)

Afaik Moose this will be hard if you want a little icon by each ship, I remember the dev's saying it would be a hard task to add a bar showing how much He3 a miner has not because they can't find out how much He3 it has but how hard it is to add an icon.

My idea was not a separate icon, but a new icon, possibly a different color. Would it be possible to follow this line of logic:

If hip is in normal status use icon X
If ship is ripping use icon Y

Possibly the same could be done to a miner when it is full. Have it turn red or something.

From my .plan
QUOTE realization/idea: USE unused0000001IGC as minerFullMaskIGC to indicate if a miner is full or not! This is saaaaweeeet because it's already being replicated to everyone as ShipControlStateIGC so it would not add any more messages or data over the wire! I could easily flip the radar image (hud/sector info icon) to something different (like a shovel with a $ symbol next to it) for the miner's team/allies only.[/quote]

This could also be used as ripcordActiveIGC! (one or the other, not both) AFAIK there is only one of these gems left open for us to explore using.

There was another topic i remember seeing not too long ago discussing "dynamic icons".... where did that go?
