Combat Drone 1 2 and 3 will be referred to as CDI II and III
Heavy Combat Drone will be labeled as HDC1 & 2
Plasma Gen and Heavy Plasma Gen... obvious enough.

I've always wondered whether plas gen 3 or hvy plas 2 was better.

Given the fact that they have roughly equal total damages and plas gen 3 has a greater range and a longer life span you'd think it might be considered better. But I think in most cases it's the damage per second that matters most and hvy plas's is much greater.

I don't really know, I guess the real kicker is that for every plas gen a TF ship carries they can carry 2 hvy plas gens.

main problem is the horrible range on plasma gens. So easy to keep out of there range in a dog fight.
And they lack that insta-kill property of someone zooming through it if you try and camp.

So the main course of action when going against TF is to go as fast as possible.
So, unless theres like 6 active plasma gens, an interceptor can probably speed through and survive.

On the upside, you take more damage than in a minefield if you go slow, but they only shoot one target at a time...

thanks very much weylin for these numbers. for a long time i always suspected hvy plasgens was way better than reg plas gens for miner killing and in all my tests, they seem to support my experience. the difference between 163m and 218m is nothing when you're dealing with miners and now i can see that indeed hvy plas gen is better than plas gen2.

in fact, if you had a hvy scout and dropped all 4 hvy plasgen2's next to a reg bios miner, it would take it down to 1% hull!

how's that for awesome

If you use your 3 gat 3 guns on the miner and your gunner is hitting it too, it will probably die before you can drop all 4 plasgens.
I have a johnson photo in my profile since 2010.

Make sure to reference the damage table to see effectiveness on different targets.

Even though the heavy drones apparently do less damage than the combat drones, they do 4x that amount against heavy hull and shielding.

iyou guys would enjoy the old TF where all the damage from a plasgen was done at once, making it a proximity bomb.

It was called Prox Explosive, not Plasmafield Generator. ;)
