because we wouldn't be a community?
go play CS or BF2 etc, join a server, do you know anyone there?
the closest you get to a community is if you get recruited into a squad, and the squad has its own forums.
the forums provide balance,
like say a society in a university that say does, climbing, it has social activities
you join the society to climb (play alleg), but it also has a social side (forums) where they have parties
i mean, we dont just use these forums to beat each other up. there have been loads of very helpfull threads

I can see the gameplay forum being useful. General is for stuff that isn't really gameplay or development (whether core or otherwise). Off-topic could be seen as a community-building thing.Elephanthead wrote:QUOTE (Elephanthead @ Oct 15 2006, 05:48 PM) Why dont we reduce the forums to squads forums, helpline, development bugs, and core discussion. Why do we need the drama boards? Granted they are amusing, but not really needed.
Rants, on the other hand, should be sent straight to Hades.

but then everyone will rant everywhere else! it should be write-only, you can post, but no-one can read your post /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

No. The rest of the forums would naturally still be subject to the same RoC - there just wouldn't be a section where anything goes anymore.finn_bryant wrote:QUOTE (finn_bryant @ Oct 16 2006, 01:00 AM) but then everyone will rant everywhere else!

A rants forum add a safety valve, to keep some of the more nasty stuff out of the other forums. If it does pop up in another forum, then the thread has a place to go.
As far as the other, it may be good to archive for the next @#$@storm, but I agree with Ozzy. Let's just play. RL is sufficiently dramatic without Alleg's help.
