I also built an op in my home sector, hoping to consolidate my base. I remember my teammates, very gentle:" Comm, can we space out the bases a little?"
Writing the Academy on geocities (still available) My God, the history page was a lot shorter then...

1) Go to pick up some tech my team needed
2) Drop a prox to make space in my cargo
3) Act surprised when it bounces off me
4) Think Oh poot I'm an Advanced Scout and have 2 proxes per slot
5) Look around and the tech has disappeared
6) Endure the derision of my teammates.......

I did laugh a lot at this (last night....)

After playing my first game against giga and dissing a couple of light bases with the team, for the longest time I believed any small base can be dissed and I annoyed my team by suggesting we should dis ops, teles etc...

Fortunately a wiser and older pilot took me aside and after some yelling I got the point...
