I looked for a topic like this and found 3 pages. While none asked only about miner AI I chose a new topic.

Please listen before you slam me

With the changes to Alleg over the years miner are far to important to let the miner/con AI stay like it is. Remove the auto build for tech/mine cons. you may get distracted and have a base build where you dont want it. A pali at home which you was saving for your backup tech base:( Or the like.

IC miners that rip to a camped tele because you are defending from a bomb run. These are all costly mistakes. And while I agree the commanders job is to manage miners sometimes to much is going on.

So I ask, beg, PLEASE do something about miner/con AI

1st miners dont mine unless orders to a sector by the com
2nd cons wont build unless told by the com

How hard is this to change. Im a truck driver not a programmer. PLEASE consider this. If not for me, then for the poor defensless cons/miners:)

I think miner AI is beyond the scope of the core. It's more of a Development Zone issue.

Understand that both teams are (more or less) at the same disadvantage due to miner/con AI. The best thing you can do is develop a good understanding of it, and take advantage of the terrible AI.

It's in there with hallucinogens and God, categorized by general loss of reality..
There are two types of Allegiance Players - Those who log in to play with me, and those who log in to complain about me. With me gone, both types lose interest. I am Allegiance.

Maybe we should make them pilotable and have noobs drive them around before they can fly any other ship...

Just because both teams have the same disadvantage, does not mean it is conductive to fun and interesting gameplay... One could imagine many annoying bugs that would affect both teams equally, but it'd still be better if things worked "right" for both teams, and victory did not depend on ability to exploit bugs and terrible AI, etc.

Pilot-able miners - actually, if it were possible to do this and make it *optional*, that'd be awesome. :P Normally it'd be boring and unnecessary and even a noob pilot would be more useful doing something else, but if, say, your team is down to one miner and you absolutely cannot afford to lose it, it might be worth it to have a human pilot controlling it directly.

They already do, except my version complains about not buying bombers.

Not a core change, moving to development.
