It's already poorly/never utilised and this would cement its role as a FARP-style ship that mostly avoids direct combat itself. Make the heavy nan forward-firing only on the AS and give it a 3k range. Hmmm, cloaked remote nanning. :iluv:
The ASS was never designed to be a FARP (Forward Arming and Refueling Point), that's the job of the carriers... ;)

I think he was referring to the assault carrier

I like this idea, integrated with a single defensive turret. I vote "yay."

The old (very old?) heavy nan that was mountable on the old sector support ship was basically just nan2? I'm hazy, but I also remember a heavy nan at some point in history.

Still, I like the ideas put forth for the renovated Freighter.

Wiki says Ga'Taraan already has one:

'AS Hvy Nanite Mount - A powerful Nan mountable on the turrets of the attack carrier. Requires Research, Dry dock, Nanite 2.'

For the epic it would be nice to keep the hvy nan on something slower than the capships. So, either you push the cap, or crawl crunching wave after wave of attackers. :D

Im not sure I like this idea. To be honest its treating a symptom and not the actual problem associated with capital ships in the game. I think caps need to be reworked, Madpeople submitted a whole raft of changes for caps and im sure Vly has posted on numerous changes possible changes. I think it's about time we start an open discussion on caps as a whole.
