*Help!*
Well, that topic description pretty much says it all, my IE has gone, which means I cant play Allegiance, go on IRC or on MSN or any of the plethora of programs which use IE to connect to the internet, I thank god everyday that i have Mozilla so I can atleast post this message, and thats the thing, Mozilla works fine, I hadnt touched IE, but suddenly it decided that it didnt like me anymore. Is there anyway I can reinstall the explorer, each time I download the setup it says 'A newer version of Internet Explorer is already installed, cannot continue setup' I have IE6. Help? I dont know what is going on.

Internet explorer is a part of XP, I can't just uninstall it, unless you can show me how, can you show me how?

Correct me if I'm stupid.
You MIGHT be able to dig through your registry (start/run/regedit) and find your IE keys, delete them, thus fooling XP into thinking IE is gone (you know, I think I'm going to miss the registry when Vista is released).
I see a couple registry keys under various .../software/microsoft/Internet Explorer folders, but there are MANY FOLDERS TO BROWSE THROUGH. As a general rule, most software (application) keys tend to be segregated from the crucial keys, so it's kind of hard to kill a key you want to keep by accident. But who knows - microsoft knows their own XP registry structure, so they would know where to put IE keys if they wanted to put them in crucial places (why would they? Who knows. It's Microsoft).
I could be wrong, too, in which case go ahead and flame the crap outta me. I'm just making a semi-educated guess based on what I've done with other programs.
And as always, BACKUP YER KEYS BEFORE YOU DELETE THEM.

You can sort of uninstall IE in XP. Or, to sound a little more correct, you can downgrade it a bit. Go to your 'add/remove programs' list. First, check your list of installed programs and check for IE6 SP2. If it is there, remove it like you would any other program. If it isn't, go to the 'add/remove windows components' and uncheck IE in there and then hit 'next'. After that, give your system a reboot and then recheck IE in the windows components. You have now 'reinstalled' IE on your system.
Also, if you show IE6 SP2 in your installed programs list, you can do a repair on it by hitting change/remove. In the options that come up, just click 'repair' and let it run. After its done, reboot your system whether it asks for it or not.
