Hey guys. I was trying to make a HUD similar to Freespace 2's HUD, but I reached some problems.
1) Some of the images caused the game to crash at the moment I enter a mission.
2) When I removed these, some other appear distorted in game.
3) I didn't find a way of having semi-transparent images

Full Ammo Gauge (Crashes game)

Empty Ammo Gauge (Crashes game)

"Ammo Spine" (I didn't really like that one) (Crashes game)

Direction Indicator

Lead Indicator (In Range) (Distorted)

Lead Indicator (Out of Range) (Distorted)

Just a thought: Are you using mdl bmp files? Does the name of the bmp file BEFORE the mdl conversion match the name after?
Renaming mdl files makes them crash.

The names are all standard (ammogaugebmp.mdl ammogaugebmp.mdl etc.) , and I'm adding the files to "Artwork/Textures".

if those are the images you converted, then your stuff is all the wrong size.

make them powers of two, more simply, make the images have the same dimensions as the things you are replacing.

Does the game support .png files? Or will I have to convert those to .bmp and then to .mdl?

You can reference a .png from a text based bmp.mdl

There is a tool for generating them somewhere about here made by YP

I don't understando how that works, and I didn't manage to find the tool.
I'm gonna search for more files to edit and make them freespace-ish
