CallsignCancer wrote:QUOTE (CallsignCancer @ Mar 12 2009, 10:26 AM) So I thought "this looks like multiplayer X2, the graphics at least" and registered a callsign (guess which one). Let's see if we can't get this rookie flying.

How long does it take (after e-mail activation) until I am able to sign into the game? It still tells me the callsign I registered yesterday doesn't exist (web tools work though)...

I know this isn't the bug report forum, but here's the log: http://rafb.net/p/gT63IZ67.html

It should be immediate. Please create a thread in the Helpline - remember to use the template, and they can fix it quickest.

WHile you wait to get your problem solved - you can do the training missions by starting the Allegiance .exe directly (normally in C:\program files\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\Allegiance.exe or somesuch) and selecting the training button.

Also read the academy when you have the time.

hi every one , just having a quick look around and spending a little time to get to know your game , its nice to see other space based games with a multiplayer aspect , well im here id like to say thanks to Adept for passing on the info to this game .........

he posted the info on Hard light Productions the home of freespace

here you can find another space ased game with a multiplayer section , the central game "freespace is not free ( it was for a while but now can be downloaded via gog )

within the community at hlp the game as with this one has been redeveloped and graphically enhanced , there are various standalones either finished or in wip stage that do not need the gog download so they are playable after download ......;

so come over and have a look and hopefully i hope to see you in multiplayer either here or there

later

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

Right, I'm new. I saw a mention of Allegiance on a feature story by ExtremeTech.com here [via the IndieGames.com blog] and found it very relevant to my interests. It initially sounded like a less-boring EVE Online. I went to the official website here and read a bit, then it sounded like Homeworld. More, and it sounded like Space Cowboy/AceOnline. More still, and it sounded like Freespace 2. Now I have no idea at all. At any rate, I'm here now and expecting quite a bit, which I see as a good thing and a bad thing! ;)

Backstory behind, there are two critical issues that are bothering me currently, one of which has kept me from installing the game even though I have it downloaded. One is an issue regarding playing the game on a laptop keyboard, and the other more important one has to do with installing the game on an external hard drive (due to... unusual personal circumstances), playing it on the go, and problems that sound likely to ensure with callsign linking as far as I've read on the Wiki.
Should I simply ask these here in this topic, as a new topic here in this "General" forum, or should I go to the Helpline forum, or what?

Probably the helpline. There is a technical aspect to your inquiry, so that's definitely within the helpline's mandate.

Welcome - by the sound of it you will enjoy this game ;)

1) On an external hard drive - there used to be a requirement that you had to install on the system drive, I think the new ASGS may let you install on another drive (I'm not sure), but maybe worth trying.

2) Playing on a laptop keyboard is fine due to the ability to remap keys - However you must also have mouse or Joystick if you are intending to do anything particularly useful.

3) Callsign linking occurs when more than one allegiance player plays on the same PC. If the PC(s?) you are using aren't used by anyone else playing the game, it shouldn't be a problem.

It's not self-proclaimed!

It won the "best game no one played" award by Gamespot in 2000
