Do we want EMP cannons to be able to damage techbase shields though? TT + EMP could be equivalent to galvs in sup - a very cheap option for taking out light bases but not useful against techbases.

Alternatively, making EMP cannons damage techbase shields might make int bombing easier because you could get one or two ints to soften up the base's shields before the bomber gets there. I'm not sure if that would be too strong for exp since you'd only need about one rack of ABs to kill a base then (and not have to reload).

I like the options it gives you, but they require thought and dedication to use. Not sure how often it'd be used in a PUG, but the option is there. I don't forsee it becoming broken anyhow.

While reading through the topic, I was going to suggest Xeretov's idea. EMP cannons do no dmg to "Major Base Shields". They should at least do 0.25.

Perhaps do a replacement of EMP cannons with an EMP rocket - Some tweaking would have to be done to balance out the inability to mount three of them with the ability to mount Minis at the same time (Or, with Rix, an EMP pod that would interfere with PPs), in addition to the damage changes, but it could be done

I don't see what the point would be to EMP cannons doing negligible damage to major shields rather than none. You'd still never use them against a major base, and idiots would occasionally equip one just to trigger the 'base under attack' message.

[crazy] nerf mini dmg to util hulls, make emp cannon damage all shields (as now) and util hull with current mini2(emp1)/mini3(emp2) damage [/crazy]

changing them to something usable for TTs would be best... maybe a missle that can damage only lt/small base shields...
TT + lt emp in basicExp, htt + EMP in adv. exp (possibly with lt.emp prerequisite for EMP)

Umm, it'd enable TTs to actually be a threat to major bases. If reg bbrs are, why cant reg TTs? Tier1 tech bases have the same sheilding as Ops by the way.
