Hello everyone. Just stumbled upon an article about 20 top free games which had this on it. Thought I would check it out. I've been looking for something new to play, and this should keep me entertained.

Welcome, Kaion. Hope everything works out for you.

Since Allegiance needs so much more teamwork and is complicated, you should probably read the Cadet I material and contemplate joining the program. If enough of the new players (from the Digg article) join up, it would give the new Training Lead (Adam4) a run for his money!

Welcome! Despite what the article said, this really is not an FPS in space. The game is hard, complicated and the best damn thing out there. Expect to die a lot while you work out what is going on. The following things will help ease you into the best gaming decision you ever made:

Read the material on the AcademyDevelop a thick skin - once you lern this game you forget how HARD it is to learnGet on Team Speak and ask lots of questionsJoin the Cadet programme

This advice is mentioned all over the place - but you can't have too much of a good thing.

I'm pretty sure I read the same top 20 article, and thought that this game looks extremely interesting. I'm a big fan of space sim games, I've played a lot of old tie fighter s. x-wing games, Microsoft's Freelancer, and a few others. I'm hoping the learning curve won't be too dissimilar. I haven't actually started playing yet, so far I am reading all the source material, using the training programs, and just generally lurking to learn the in's and out's. I hope I can be a part of the community, this place sounds like a lot of fun.

Just a quick quip about me, I'm 24 years old, working as a computer technician and studying for my B.S. in Physics/Astronomy. I like to program in my spare time, and love to play space related games.

Sorry to disapoint you, but the learning curve here is a bit hard. But dont let that push you down, most of the players here will willingly help you with any difficulties you may encounter. Just give it time and you´ll see how enjoyable this game is.
Just follow the steps SP gave and you´ll should ease your gaming a lot.
