Re-installs shouldn't be necessary. If your update is looping, just close it all and doubleclick ASGSUpdate.exe directly.
You should be fine after that.

Tried, didn't work, but it did update after selecting "repair/update critical files from the help menu inside ASGS.

Awesome Kofi, that worked. I was stuck in the aforementioned update loop too but for some reason that fixes it.
