I'm getting really tired of having to explain every single bad idea to people. I'm sure alot of other people are too. So from now on, no more oxygen-deprived brain posts. kkthnxbye
I disagree about this being a stupid idea. It's not the 1st time I've heard it mentioned either. Is it unwanted by the majority of the community? Yes. Stupid? No.

DasSmiter wrote:QUOTE (DasSmiter @ Feb 16 2009, 04:34 PM) I'd rather see pp be a pp1 and pp2 item, with pp2 in adv exp. Decreasing the awesome of pp1 of course.

That way Exp still has defense against tac, but it's not longer an auto tac loses button (as it usually ends up being). Ideally I'd like to see pp1 = 3000 scan and 4 second life, and pp2 = 4500 scan and 5 second life.
I like this idea, although I'd still want them mountable on ints. The 5000 scan on the current pulse probe is vicious against anything short of sig2 or 3 SFs, and even then its not easy to work around. On top of that you can get PPs without having to upgrade the exp. Making a weaker, upgradeable version would help tac in the early game against exp, something I find them to be weak at due to the PPs.

If nothing else, I'd support moving the research for PPs from normal to adv. exp.

lol @ icky

also it should be noted that even though figs get eyed farther out, an enh fig with dumb2 gat2 can kill a miner far faster than a mini3 hvy int

Yes, but it can also be killed by the defence much faster. On top of that, the fig gets eyed farther out, so the team had more time to actually get defence out to kill the fig, and there is time for the miner to start heading back to base and gett nans.

its a tradeoff. ints cannot rip, and wandering around in a mining sector leaves one less for defense. you would have it that figs should be as strong as ints? as fast? I know lets make every ship the same. that will be fun

Just as a sidenote, buffing miner offense (in general) will make the IC ripping miner perk (in particular) and the TF smallrip miner perk (to a lesser extent) even stronger.

Random bad idea1: how about a basic PP in starbase and the better version in exp with all ships (figs/ints/sf/scouts) being able to use them. By Basic I mean scan range of 3000 instead of 4500 (is that right for the current one?) or something like that?
