Just a thought, Try playing in Windowed mode. when you open the game first up when it says "Training" and "Free Games" etc. press ALT+Enter and then try playing the game. it could just be your GFX Card

well, i had tried windowed before and i had the same problem except the screen didnt go off that time. but it did screw up my screen resolution and my color bits. it set my screen to 600X800 and color to (lowest) 4 bits. but it fixed when i restarted the comp normally.

The messed up colors and resolution thing is a symptom of graphics drivers crashing. Regular Allegiance client has some issues with newer nVidia graphics cards, I recommend you try using the DirectX based alpha build of the client (instructions how to do that). This should fix your problem.
