Good to see that you're all getting to grips with the whole mu/sigma thing. Interesting point, Crono. Perhaps the average SF is like me: A couple of months of intense play interspersed with larger periods of AFKness.

I already have a graphing utility programmed for player's mu/sigma/rank curves. One of the features I hope to add is a dull-red background for periods of inactivity. Theoretically the same thing could be done for entire squads. Oh how the mind boggles.

At the moment I'm in the "post implementation chill" phase of development. That's why I'm not rushing in to fix things that aren't broken. TE is pressing me for new features and the like, so my mind is being drawn back in that direction, but after two years of working on something you're expecting lots of WTF for (which didn't happen), I'm gonna take time to think as opposed to rushing in new features.

At some point I will open a thread asking which stats the community would like to see. Then we will do our best to provide said stats. That said, TE and I need to do our groundwork before AS 2.0 happens.

:)

I am still WTF'ing at my sullied rank!

Also if you're looking for anything urgent to fix, you might want to bug the server guys and make them get rid of the "Noob/Inter/Vet/Expert" thing because...well, they're not really an indication of AS, are they?

Very true. One of the things I've been putting off has been delving in to the Alleg source to make the server and client fully support AS. I already have some maths which made the newb/inter/vet etc thing make more sense, but it's gonna take some head-achey hours with spaghetti-Alleg-code on my behalf to implement event the most basic of changes. (Team skills being #1 priority (They're NOT the sum of player con. ranks))

Perhaps I'm being slightly complacent here and ignoring real priorities. I really should get dirty with the Alleg source and sort these things. Perhaps I should shun what TE needs to get done in order to concentrate on those things.

It's very easy to think about areas of development with which I am comfortable. Dealing with the ASGS database etc is one of those. I really should be spending time with the Alleg Source (which I'm not looking forwards to).

Still.... it must be done. Kick/Slap/Bomb/Flame me until I do just that.

DO EET NOW ENGLEESH DOG!!

It is actually quite urgent now I come to think of it, I mean what's the point of having AS if the in-game ranks don't accurately reflect people's AllegSkill? It'd just make things even MORE imbalanced. Like autobalance. After all if AS is meant to be more accurate so we can leave AB on and have balanced games, having inaccurate ranks in-game would be counterproductive.

Commands: XT coms have commanded most games followed by ACE and GB. XT also have the highest percentage of wins/commands at 64%. The effect of the XTack?

As for humerous facts, anything like that is perilously close to squad-bashing which I'm avoiding at all costs. I leave you to make your own minds up about the stats.
Shennanigans!!

Well actually its probably due to the fact that a certain few of SysX's rosters have hiders on the leaderboard, one of whom has enough games commanded to rival spidey.

Yeah I know! :D

What's kinda difficult is being the one-man-stats-'TEAM'. There was a 'team' way before I got involved in this. A group of people working towards a common cause: Better ranks and better gemes. I was a late arrival to said team. All I did was write a system for easily manipulating games, teams and players.

After much IRC and TS, people were asked to choose a 'specialisation' in this path of research. Choose a system. We were considering a plethora of systems. Choose one.

I'm no idiot. Only one system properly supported teams. I chose that system. (duh!)

Research ensued. Within <I dunno how long> the vast majority of the rest of the team had seemingly lost interest or disappeared completely. This left two people: $#@!WitBaker and MrChaos.

MrC proved invaluable. The mother$#@!er has a weird skill whereby he can see bugs without looking at the code. I KID YE NOT! I swear he can sense every key-stroke on my KB and just KNOW when I'm screwing things up. MrC keeps Baker in line.

MrC and I pretty much hashed out the AllegSkill you see today back in late 2007. Of course, Alleg politics came into force, hence a year of provarication.

Since then MrC has, quite rightly, been concentrating on other things. TE has taken up MrC's slack, as it were, but TE isn't MrC for a moment. TE is great, but in REALLY different ways.

Thus we have arrived at a situation of 'stats team' vs 'admin'. A stats team of one. This process has been a typical example of why you can't rely on ANYONE on teh internets.

</rant>

The AllegSkill Credits:

MrChaos - MrAwesome. Helped me fix all my stupid mistakes. (also a good man to go drinking with)
Terralthra - Provided infrastructure (SVN etc)
Bard - More awesome. We know what he's like. No need to go there. (he sings pretty well too)
TigerEye - Kicked my butt... in a good way.
Ksero - Did 90% of everything before anyone else got a chance. (He very nearly had a true-to-the-metal version of Trueskill running in python)
Everyone else on that team: Please come back.
Me: Stupid enough to force the idea for long enough.

I wonder if the eons that you sit NOAT whoring have an effect and are making AS think you might be some sort of lobby bot?

Thanks Chris :iluv:

Don't forget Flower the hater of all things Microsoft and truly a man who loves statistics for the pure numbers of it.

Crono hun relax please and while the ranks aren't perfect they are head and shoulders better then the last go around. Matter of fact I'm going to politely disagree with The Professor and say the ranks are accurate enough... other then the stacker rank but that is a work in progress rather then hammered out bullet proof app.

Once the glaciers are formed ( awaiting the $#@!ing cable company for internet access rather then lunch time at work and "borrowing" the neighbors wireless connection) Im happy to be of service. As for the drilling into the issue thingie, it's a wierd "talent" that makes one hated and loved depending on the day  . It does have a tendency to make designs better at launch but get you eating lunch by yourself alot.

Must mean we need to bring him back, as our gameplay has been suffering ever since he was forcibly removed.

Better games means more Masta!
