Escort Freighters, same stats as its realtive, but with 4 mounted turrets to aid in escorts and acting as a cheap, last ditch turret platform.

I'd prefer to have the basic freighter have a single turret. <---- not a nan turret, the regular kind

A capital ship scale nanite gun (not turret) for them could be cool as well. Slow firing, at least nan2 / sec efffect with something like:

Heavy armour x1.0
Med armouor x 0.75
Light armour x 0.5

If aimig with capitals is a problem, you could give the heavy nan an area of effect.

Could be interesting, an AoE repair weapon that might heal enemies too if you aren't careful where you shoot the thing.

Nanning cap ships is useless.We need a specialty ship,under the SY tech tree to accommodate this.

For posterity sake, in the early Beta, cap ships could mount a nan upfront. There was nothing like a string of cruisers in a row nanning each other. :iluv:

Why not give this job to the assault ship? It's already poorly/never utilised and this would cement its role as a FARP-style ship that mostly avoids direct combat itself. Make the heavy nan forward-firing only on the AS and give it a 3k range. Hmmm, cloaked remote nanning. :iluv:

Put a forward-firing "heavy nan" on freighters. Freighters are *never* used for their intended purpose (in theory, ferrying supplies to other ships without docking them... which is a situation that *never* comes up in actual gameplay). Putting the nan in the forward gun slot instead of turrets would make cross-nanning more difficult; make the heavy nan drain large amounts of energy to keep "nan trains" from being sustainable for too long.

If you add to this the ability to drop mines, as has been suggested in other threads, you'd just turn the freighter into a capital ship equivalent of the nan scout, sans scan range or ability to cross-nan easily. :P rename it to "support ship" (since freighters simply aren't something needed in the game,) and call it a day. ^_^

Something like this wouldn't be a bad idea. I still say the freighter needs a self defense turret too.
