It's pretty ugly. But for a first 3d model it isn't too bad.

I would ditch the tubes, entirely. Replace the side tubes with some form of wing (Perhaps a small one like the X-15's), and pull the rear ones so they are just sticking out of the tail, and not sticking out sideways in any way.

Also, are you using milkshape? Milkshape sucks. Gmax is old, but is much better, and free

it is pretty nice for a first try.

just try over and over and you'll be really good some day /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
i'm not a big fan of tubes, but thats not my choice to make /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
I do agree with andon, you should use something different than milkshape. it sucks for moddelling.

but moddeling is the easy part, skinning it is the hard stuff.

good luck with it!

Nice model. At least it was better than my first model - a big cube that would ... 'supposedly' represent an outpost... well, until it met the Recycle Bin. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Milkshape is good for irregular models , were you stick a image in your views and start moving stuff. Milkshape is more for creating the vertexes and faces from scratch, giving you much less chances of getting errors in the model, but if you are thinking of modelling with tubes and boxes, nothing beats Wings 3D.

I only use Milkshape for its excellent file conversion. Wings3D for the whole rest - but use whatever floats your boat, its more a matter of personal taste, comfort and the fun you get by modelling than actually the power the application offers.

What did you do joints for? I NEVER do joints until I am COMPLETELY finished with the model. It's just such a pain to have to re-do them every time you make a change
