Helo is only good at identifying stackers, and it only does that mildly well. Ignore it.

Yes I did. Clear enough, but I don't see anything about removing the "stacking threshold".

A further thought has occurred that could be useful:

Above the argument was made that people could still stack up to the threshold, and if it went over they could have safe fun whoring on the other team to their hearts content.

A simple solution would be that if the helo imbalance is over a certain percentage, then only the underdogs could gain helo. That way it wouldn't be safe for the stackers. The stackers would not gain helo, and when the happen to lose (as we know occasionally happens) they would lose helo.

I'm pretty sure that would actually help.

/edit: To clarify the above a bit. A win by the stacked against team would count. If the stackers win, the game wouldn't count.

What I see there is; if you are on the losing team and are trying really hard NOT to lose and are awarded alot of points for the good things you accomplish, you get a BIGGER penalty when you lose.

I still think this would work.

Antistackers would be rewarded with helo when they manage to win against the stack, and stackers would lose helo if they happen to lose the game despite their stacking.

i think stackers should get even more helo for winning than antistackers do.

then add a chance of disintergration to anyone above a certain helo, which increases exponentialy the higher they are /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

that will solve stacking for good.

really, im completely serious, why not?

Sorry to keep bumping this, but it's an issue that will not fix on it's own.

I'm not just whining about the stack to keep warm. This effects so many areas of Allegiance. If only even games, or the stacked against side can gain helo (and the stackers can only lose, or stay the same) the motivation to stack will disappear to a large extent. The people who are high on the leaderboard are very competetive, and will want their wins to count... so they will want even games. This will also make helo start to properly reflect the teamwork skill of the pilot, instead of being strongly modified by the willingness to stack as the case is now.

If we change this, then the games will get better accross the board. It would make a big difference to the experience new players get, as they wouldn't get stacked against and whored upon nearly as much.

If there is some serious downside to this that I'm not seeing, please correct me and I'll pipe down. If not, let us implement it. Stacking will continue as long as the motivation is there and there is no downside.

This won't reduce stacking.

Thing that makes me wonder is why the AutoBalance is not counting the preffered ship of a person? Its not that hard really to say which one of them a player preffers or performs best. Yes still innacurate enough for false-positives, but balanving on Helo AND per preffered class ship should give a better result than just having 1 team stacked with scout whores and opposite with int whores...

Wouldn't is the word to use, I'm afraid. I'm not terribly optimistic about this getting implemented. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

But I'm curious, why do you think it wouldn't reduce stacking?
