Would it be possible to have remote control rocket shells? (Or something)

I think artillery should mainly aim by the F3 sector view, possibly aided by pointer lasers or flares. They mainly have a suport function, since they arn't accurate enough to take out fleeing units. You'll need front line forces for that. However, due to their high damage and large blast radius they can be very usefull for taking out the enemies front lines or turret positions when invading a base. Only problem i see is that if you've only got 15 guys in the game, artillery's notm going to be very effective against infantry...

Anyway, here's a list of units i think are quite neccesary:

Scout --> Infantry with a large scan range and weak weapons and armor
Engineer --> Infantry with improved naning capabilities (2 nans instead of 1?)
Demolitions Expert --> Can lay a variety of mines and explosives. Don't let this guy get close to your tank or it'll be gone...
Marine --> Standrard issue infantry
Shock troopers --> Heavy, slow infantry. Possibly without a jetpack
Commando --> Stealth unit with snipers or long range anti-tank weapons.
Hacker --> Not quite powerfull alone, but they can reprogram probes, mines, abandoned vehicles and automated turrets if they manage to get close.

Transport bike --> Fast (hover)bike used to quickly get somewhere. Possibly upgradable to carry a weapon or missile.
Bugy --> Fast, light vehicle with a turret. can cary 1 driver and a turret gunner.
Half-Track --> Reasonably fast all-purpose vehicle.
APC --> Armoured Personal Carrier. Can carry infantry to the front-lines. Possibly with a turret.
Main Battle Tank --> The big guns. Powerfull against vehicles and turrets. Not accurate enough to do a whole lot against infantry.
Howitser --> Standard artilery. Can fire explosive shells at a nice rate and is very accurate (if the target isn't moving that is). The shells are quite light though.
Mobile Missile System --> Packs a lot of missiles and can shoot them all in a short volley. Verry effective at providing support fire, but not very accurate. Also, aircraft beware!
Reaper --> Stealthed vehicle with verry powerfull weapons. It can't endure the least bit of pounding though.
Zimmer --> Stealthy transport vehicle for a pilot and up to 2 pasengers. Unarmed but verry fast.

Scout Plane --> Fast unarmed aircraft with a good sensor range.
Interceptor --> Air superiority fighter. Specialised at shredding everything that flies, but not very effective against things that don't fly.
Hunter --> All purpose aircraft. Less effective against air then interceptors and less effctive against ground then bombers, but it can hit both.
Bomber --> Powerfull against ground targets. Can't hit air targets.
Dive Bomber --> Powerfull against buildings and slow vehicles. can delliver bombs with extreme accuracy, but these don't have a big blast radius.
Gunship --> Aircraft capable of hovering. Equiped with 2 turrets.
Stealth Bomber//Stealth Dive Bomber --> A stealthy version of the normal bomber and Dive Bomber.
Prowler --> Stealthy hovering aircraft with long-range anti-tank and anti-infantry weapons.
Aerial Transport --> Gets you where you want to be and fast too. Can't cary a lot though. Also comes in a stealthy variety.

And in case we're going to have ships:
Hydrofoil --> Scout ship. Carries a single weapon and is realy fast.
Cruiser --> Standard combat ship. Mounts several turrets and anti-air missles.
Torpedo Hunter--> Ship carrying torpedoes. Effective against surface ships and submarines. Can't hit things on land though
Batlleship --> Aquatic Artillery. Powerfull artilery turrets can rain down hell on the enemy position. Not very good at defending itself though
Submarine --> Stealthy ship-hunter. Can't hit land targets.
Boomer Sub --> Submarine equiped with balistic missiles. Can excecute strikes with surgical precission. Less manouvrable and weaker then normal subs though.
Aquatic Transport --> If you need to move something over water, this is your first choice.

Don't know about capitol vehicles yet though.

I really can't see ships being incorporated into the games, the maps just arent big enough for them.

Hovercrafts might be an option to get across small patches of water though.

Depends. If we want ships, we could scale the playing area's up, because with an aquatic part and a terrestial part, you've essentialy cut the size in half. On the other hand, bigger playing areas would probably result in more sneaking and less direct combat. Besides that, you'd have to make most vehicles faster, or else aircraft become to dominant.

Oh, i'm adding some things to the list. Forgot most of the stealth side of the game...

It might also be an idea to take a look at the battlezone games. They were also a blend between FPS and RTS.
