There's been a lot of complaining about commanders that don't play the game well, or don't win a lot of the games they comm. I've been reading a lot of these posts, watching the way ppl play in games, and the chats after the games. I've seen some things said that just aren't right, IMHO.

Here's my thoughts on it:

First, if you don't like the way the game went, don't blame the comm. It's supposed to be a TEAM effort. Working together is the way to win the game, not going off by yourself to do whatever you want without regards to what the comm has planned.

Second, why didn't YOU step up and comm? I see ppl bitching about the poor commanding in the game and I wonder why they didn't step up and comm to begin with? Or mutiny in the game, if they felt it was going bad.

Next is that the comm doesn't need back seat comms. Advice, sure, suggestions, sure, but not somebody looking over their shoulders and criticizing every decision they make.

And last is that the comms only get the pats on the back if they win. But if they lose....well, it's time to rip into them, right? Wrong. It's time to thank them for trying, even if they lose.

Most of the time the game is won/lost because of the team, not the comm. (Notice I said most of the time. There are games that the comm makes bad decisions and looses it for the team.)

From now on I'm going to make it a point to thank the commander, win or lose. I don't comm, and I won't comm until I've been through ACS. I have a lot of respect for the people that are willing to command, even the people I don't like. If you're not going to command the game, then don't complain about the comm not doing what you think they should have done.

So a thank you to the people that do command games. Win or loose, you have my respect for stepping up.

That's my thoughts on it.

Yay! This thread makes me feel better. Even though I'm the sort of commander who regularly bashes his team...

Secondly, let me paraphrase Ozzy:

Lose - Not winning[/quote]

The beauty of this game, is it's ability to create a different kind of game
from the last game and the game before that.
One of the mant differences between games is the players.
You get good commanders and bad commanders, good players
and not so good players.

You really cannot change the personalities of these players.
Your always going to have nice players, asshat players, backseat comms,
spammers,screamers,booters,sarcastic players,know it all's and many others.

In the end, the game is pretty entertaining. If it wasn't it would have died years ago.
so comm's will get ripped players will get booted and allegiance will live on.

I'm not saying it won't live on, and I know there will always be negative ppl playing. What I'm trying to point out is that there is no reason to be that way, and if they HAVE to be that way, then they should step up and comm. Step up or shut up.

+5 rep to olivedrab
I loose my motivation to help out more and more each day to drama like this. Which is why I am mostly /meh on this point. I will continue to play as I always have, with the morals I have been rasied with and if this community finds they don't like myself and others like me who just enjoy playing the game with their friends on TS or squadies, then they can ban us and my Warhammer account, Girlfriend, and IRL activities will get a lot more attention and will thank them.

Definitely. Bravo for giving commanders some slack. Most people will bitch fairly hard at and stack commanders and yet not have much of a clue on how to actually command, or even fly well.

Thanks Olive!

Yes, thanks Olive, excellent points. I used to thank commanders for stepping up all the time. I'm not sure when I stopped. I will try to do it again.
