I just saw Batman in a game! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I was really glad to see him there because I'm sure he could use a break.

Between games I asked him how his wife was doing and he said she's walking with a cane now! She's on the way to getting back to her old self, just remember that she's still got a long way to go. He told me she's still got a lot of pain, so that's kind of a bad thing. I didn't get a chance to ask him how he and the kids were doing, so I don't know. Maybe he'll be able to get on and let us know?

Batman, I'm glad to see you taking some time for yourself. Even a short break can make a huge diff. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yeah -- I was in for two games. We won both. It is hard to pilot with a splint on my left hand, but I doubt anyone noticed the difference.

As for the status of things -- my wife is in physical therapy 3 times per week. She has moved from a walker to a cane -- but that was a month ago and now progress seems glacial. She is in pain and on pain meds. She sees the doctor in mid May. Her spirits rise and fall, but she is pretty tough and very determined. We just don't know how far the road to recovery will actually go. The docs don't know, either.

both daughters are fine now. Youngest daughter was released to play sports again, her broken ileum (hip) healed, although she is kind of 'lopsided' right now. Older daughter is fine and we go back to plastic surgeon next week to see how her nose 'curve' is growing.

I am ok too. I am still in therapy for shoulder and for wrist/hand. Shoulder seems to be doing pretty well. I am hoping doc releases me from physical therapy for that by the end of May. Still hurts to put my hand over my head, but at least I can do that now. The wrist is a different matter. I continue to try different therapy stuff, but surgeon has another look in mid-May. Perhaps another suruger is in the offing. The torn ligament in another part of the hand seems to be doing well with the splint. Hopefully that comes off by end of May. I have great difficulty typing, as if partially covers and hinders my left hand and fingers.

the 19 yr. old girl that hit us was charged two weeks ago. I had to testify at the preliminary hearing. I saw her for the first time. I had not been angry until I saw her. It looked like she rolled out with a hang over. Her parents were there, too. I feel sorry for them -- and wish they would have done a better job with their daughter. She was charged with 19 counts, including DWI, assault, and vehicular homicide (her passenger was killed). Her blood alcohol level was 0.16. I guess she got toasted at a bar before jumping into the car. they also found pot in her vehicle -- so who knows what else she was doing, in addition to drinking. All I can say is -- what a frekin dumbass she is.

The medical bills continue to pile up, and it is too depressing to go into much detail on that front. My advice is to buy good auto insurance and then double the amount of insurance. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Finally, it is great to get into the game and see some familiar folks. Sorry if I did not return some in game PMs. I have had my hands full just trying to remember teh darn controls /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Hope this helps: I broke my left femur in 3rd grade (i'm a freshman in college now) and since then I've been "lopsided" too /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
My left shoulder is usually lower than my right (I have to conciously adjust them to level them), but I can still run and do everything fine, and though I have a semi-pronounced limp when I run, it doesn't hamper me at all.

Erm, isn't the ileum your small intestine?

Anyway, nice to see you getting back on your feet and fighting crime again, I hope I can fly with you sometime.

Ok cool, you should come on IRC if you ever get bored or something, and can't play Alleg, there are tonnes of Alleg players talking about everything.

p.s: #freeallegiance is as dead as a dodo, #rollingthunder is the place to be

Keep it going Dark Knight, you've got our support, and it's clear you're supporting each other. That's the best shape to be in during a time like this.
