Failed to Connect to game server

Hey, just decided to take up the game again, but i seem to be getting the vista error, is there any way to just tell Norton Internet Security to allow the specific ports that allegiance operates on?

Windows Version (and Service Packs): Vista Home Premium
Processor Speed: 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 6420
RAM: 2046 Mb

Comments (What you tried, description, etc): Changing the rules on my NIS 2008 program to allow all allegiance programs, no effect.

It's your Norton. Get rid of it to play and regain tons of system recources. If you feel the need to have constant AV protection, I'd recommend NOD32 or Avast (the one without the firewall). You don't need software firewall, as you are behind a router and it's firewall is superior to Norton's (or any other software one for that matter). Be sure to use the Norton Removal Tool to remove NIS, otherwise you'll have remains of it left on your system. It can be found on the vendor's website or via google.

ok, i'd really rather not uninstall...i have an old XP system, but in only has 256 Megs of ram, would that cut it?

by removing Norton, you're giving your machine more memory headroom and more CPU cycles.

true, but this is the family computer, i think my parents would get a little ticked to find that the program they paid for is not being used...i'll try to re-setup that old box...

Tell them, that they paid to learn a lesson: Free software is often better than the expensive stuff.

For some reason, it is true that combination firewall/antivirus software seems to be incompatible with this game. Still trying to find a work around, but if you do want to play this game you will have to switch to seperate firewall and virus software, which absolutly sucks, regardless of what others may say.

I grabbed COMODO, which does not seem a half bad firewall, especially for free.

Yes, that setup will run Allegiance just fine.

Selling NIS should be considered a fraud IMO. It's such a crappy app I wouldn't install it even if it was free... hell, I wouldn't infect my system with that @#(! even if they paid me to do so.

Just a note about Comodo... I recall a couple of months ago we had a fellow here that couldn't get Alleg to run with it. He eventually removed it and he could get in. Now I've never used Comodo, and maybe he didn't have the rules set up right, but I thought I'd chime in with that little bit of info.
