There is one 'global' that is not used in ICE. Would it be possible to code the launch animation length to this one?

Yes, it would require going over all the cores and changing the value, but I could likely do that in less than an hour (And would be completely willing to as well). A lot of the issue on the launch animation is balance with camps - and most balance things are left to the core. So why not this?

That would definitely be nice. I like the idea of making this a core option. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Of course, it does beg the question: given the choice, why would you (as a pilot) ever want a launch animation time of more than zero? If it's set to 0, you get instant vision, instant ability to rip, and instant feedback on whether or not you're eyed.

EDIT: Of course, the launch animation is the one time in the game you can get a clear view of what's behind you...

Launch animation is linked to death animation.
I loose my motivation to help out more and more each day to drama like this. Which is why I am mostly /meh on this point. I will continue to play as I always have, with the morals I have been rasied with and if this community finds they don't like myself and others like me who just enjoy playing the game with their friends on TS or squadies, then they can ban us and my Warhammer account, Girlfriend, and IRL activities will get a lot more attention and will thank them.

I am DrB and I approve of this messege.

It could still be a core setting, though. It would be interesting to see a 'fast paced' core with a much shorter length

Sushi, you can already rip as soon as you launch. I recently installed some mods for my gui and cortui. Now I can see if I'm eyed and rip while the launch animation is playing. I don't have complete vision, but 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

It's a shame that you need mods to get that ability. I've never understood why allowing ripcord/eye during launch never made it into "official" alleg.

because the launch animation is there for show, and something practical like the map or eye would get in teh way of the nice ship launch animation.
