I am looking to play Allegiance but the only active server I see is the DN beta. Further, it seems that many of the games that I have seen posted are squad vs squad.

So is there a play for newbies to play?

Must one be in a squad to participate in Allegiance?

How does one go about joining a squad and are the squads race specific (BIOS, belters, etc)?

The more popular core is the DN core. You might have joined Allegiance on a Sunday, Squad Games are held pretty much every sunday at around 3pm EST. You can tell that a person is in a squad by the @ tag they have after their name.

Actually, yes, there are newbie servers. Look for the "DN newbie server" in the server list.

Nope, squads are just like clans in other games, it's your choice whether you want to experience the squad life. It's not necessary to be in a squad to play Alleginace.

Factions are 'races' in-game. Each one's unique in playing style, type of ships/equipment, and that sort of stuff. You can check out the Allegiance Academy for more information on the different factions.

Squads are community-formed group of players who like to experience the Squad Life™. Each Sunday, they get together and play in @ vs @ games. For a list of Squads current, check out the squad list here.

If you feel like this game is something you'd like to play more, I'd recommend checking out the allegiance academy, and the community-run @Cdt course, a forum-based class on the ins and outs of this complex game.

Good luck!

Tried to join DN newbie server but it was a no go. It said I was not the correct rank to join the server. Perhaps it was expecting a commander to be joining??

Hmm, well, the newbie server has a rank restriction. Only true newbies (non-advanced rank) can join the server. It prevents vets from popping on and having their way with new people.

Considering I have never been on a server, how could I have a rank at all? Confusing.

We are currently in the process of implementing a new ranking system, so there may be some bugs floating around. And the server may have been malfunctioning otherwise.

Try going to the main game (usually on DN beta 4.50) and ask what the deal is with the newbie server and if anyone there would like to start a newbie game on another server.

Also, it's getting pretty late for most of the players so you may not see that many on at the moment.

Only new players are allowed to play on the Newbie Server. If you can't find anyone around to play with you, there are several people here (including me) who would be more than happy to help get you started. However, I highly recommend you check out the links GreyVulpine posted earlier. It will shorten the learning curve for the game.

Try logging on about 5:00 pm EST and there should be a lot of people on-line. The bulk of the player base plays between 3:00 pm EST to about 1:00 am EST every day.

Send me a PM if you need any additional help or just reply to this thread.

I see about 38 people on the DN beta server right now. This seems to be the only server that I see consistently populated.

Often, DN is the only server active. Sometimes, if we're lucky, there'll be games on some of the otehr cores.

But if that's the only server avaliable, you should join it and have fun flying in a real game!
