Always.. when I turret I just lift my fingers off a bit (opening the "eye") and the motors turn off...makes it nice and smooth...

I rather like my Saitek Cyborg Evo. Lots of buttons where you need them, comfortable on the hand with its customizable rest and button row tilt, and it seems like it should be pretty resistant to wandering through extensive usage with the big ass centering spring but I could be wrong. The FFB version does away with the spring and uses the motors to keep everything centered up and I can't vouch for its stability.
