Yes there are, those damn dogs have declared war on the Cats for the LAST time!

Make ready my ship General, it's time to show those dogs what we're made of!

Well... Here is my progression:

Skipped step 1 by reading through the academy before starting and running the training sims several times (as stated earlier, the momentum aspect gave me trouble as I switched here from Freespace.)
Ok. In truth, I spent 5 minutes in step 1 in my first game. Then I decided "You know, trying to navigate and find the damn aleph while in the cockpit is damn tough. Didn't I read something about a minimap? Oh WOW! That's a lot of info. What the hell does all this mean? What?! I can autopilot by rightclicking?! Awesome! Didn't I read something about probing behind/near the alephs and around the rocks? I think I'll go do that!"

Spent the game in step 2. Then went to step three after I decided that I needed to add boosters in my scout. Ran into the overshoot issue because I'm used to boosting in Freespace. Didn't get booted, but quickly remembered my freshmen physics classes and started compensating...Now I only overshoot occasionally. So I guess I'm on step 4 now...

What I'd -REALLY- love to see is something like the Auto Match speed feature in Freespace. That was very helpful in dogfighting, and even if one was to Nan a bomber. the ability to keep matched would make trailing a lot easier.

Also I've noticed that Target Closest command (E is the default key) is actually a Target-Closest-Then-Cycle-Through-Enemies-In-Sector. Is this true, or am I just being stupid?

Now for teh questions:

QUOTE What I'd -REALLY- love to see is something like the Auto Match speed feature in Freespace. That was very helpful in dogfighting, and even if one was to Nan a bomber. the ability to keep matched would make trailing a lot easier.
esc->g->c in game. Map 'Match speed with target' to something. It might be mapped to 'M' (it is on my layout, but hell if I remember mapping those. best check).

QUOTE Also I've noticed that Target Closest command (E is the default key) is actually a Target-Closest-Then-Cycle-Through-Enemies-In-Sector. Is this true, or am I just being stupid?
Target closest pressed once will target closest enemy. Pressed another time will cycle to next closest enemy. Pressed third time will cyccle back to closest enemy. And so on. Really, try the esc-G-C menu in game. There are Target commands for EVERYTHING there. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Ehh guess not going through ingame menus was a bad decision.

Current boot count: 2 boots
Boot #2 [16.04.08] (NOT deserved):
Comm's Version: Flying in circles around home OR staying in base while all-team bbr run was on.
My version: Getting podkilled after turreting a bomber that just died leading to being in base while comm went on boot spree.

@ogoroass: Yeah, I think I hit an asteroid just once in training. The first game I played had me flying in circles trying to find things/figure out what I wanted to do.

I know that there is a match speed button (M) but I'm talking about and Auto match where if the other craft changes speed, so do you to match with it. If another ship is accelerating or decelerating, I'll either be left behind or overshoot if I keep my speed the same. (I'm using the Logitech equivalent to a PS2 controller right now until my stick comes in the mail. I don't have a throttle unless I take my hands off of the controller and find the buttons on the keyboard.)
