I got tired of jerking around with all this stuff last night and went to bed. I wake up this morning launch Allegiance, ASGS does the large install again so I figure I still have the looping problem but I launch Allegiance again and ASGS does a small download and I am able to connect to the game and get into the lobby.
How very odd /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":unsure:" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I have my game on drive "D" and ASGS would dissapear and give me the error in the Dump log. So here is what I did so I would not have to reinstall onto my system drive.

1. Create a directory (folder) on the system drive and give it a name I called mine "Drive D".

2. Right clic on "My Computer" and select manage. Clic on Disk Management and right clic on the drive your game is on and select "Change drive letter and paths..." Clic the "Add" button. Select "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder" and enter the path or use the "Browse" button to find it. Clic OK

3. Edit your registry using regedit or another registry editing program and Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft Games/Allegiance. You will see some folders just open them and look for anything that refers to *Path and change the paths to match the new path. Just right clic on the key you want to change and select "Modify". Type in the correct path keeping the syntax intact I just copied and pasted the new part of the path.

4. You will also have to change the shortcuts to use the new path as well.

This worked for me...Good Luck.
this also worked for kramari

raumvogel wrote:QUOTE (raumvogel @ Apr 10 2008, 05:02 AM) I did that and after getting to the Free games lobby and letting the individual files (*.mdl etc.) download ,the game crashed.It crashes everytime now. It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that my AllegianceR4 directory is still on my D: drive and I re-installed to c: , does it?
Just my 0.2$, after I reinstalled to the defualt drive on C:(Defualt) and it worked I tried various other methods to reinstall Alleg to my other D,F: drives.

I noticed that after I reinstalled Alleg on the non default drive, my Alleg on C:(Default) stopped working again.

I am not totally sure why. But;

1. Deleting Alleg from the other drive
2. Uninstalling from C:
3. Reinstalling,
4. Adding the .Zip fix

Allowed my C: Install work again.

probably because the install on the other drive overwrote your reg keys, so allegiance/asgs thought allegiance was installed on the D drive instead of C
