I know I'm a relative newbie compared to some of you old farts, /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> but that will not deter me from the purpose I have enjoined. I am hereby resolved to express my appreciation for those who make Allegiance work, in the face of all those who stand as mud-flingers.

I appreciate those who step up to comm, because they get it coming and going. No matter what they do, someone doesn't like it, and feels a compulsion to express that opinion with as much vulgarity as possible. I doubt I'll ever be a good comm, but I've learned to just follow orders, and things go a lot better.

I appreciate the @allegs, and all the hard work and abuse they take from the few on behalf of the rest of us. It is usually a thankless job, and much of it is behind the scenes, and I'm sure there's more I don't know about. But I appreciate it nonetheless. Allegiance would be miserable for almost all of us without you guys.

I appreciate the Devs for all the constant work they do to make us happy. Staying up late tracking down that little bug in a tiny piece of code so we can have a better gaming experience--it's beyond me, but I'm thankful for it. I also appreciate the low-morale situation they are probably in because they just release a masterpiece and we start complaining about the problems with it or what we don't like. I'm thankful they put up with us.

I appreciate those running/assisting in @CDT and doing everthing they can to improve the gaming experience of those new to the game. I'd have never stayed if it weren't for those guys, nor would many others.

I appreciate Thalgor for allowing Allegiance to even exist, since it's his equipment we're wearing out and a lot of his money we're taking for granted. I have no idea what it costs him to run this, but I can't imagine our donations even scratch the surface, especially if you add in for mental anguish. (Speaking of donations, don't forget to use the "Make a Donation" link under "My Controls" at the top of this--or any--forum page.)

And I also appreciate Pook, for managing the day-to-day stuff for this place for . . . um, ever. He seems up to date on every topic, knows about every problem (both personal issues and game issues), and knows exactly how to fix 98.7% of all problems that are brought to him. That other 1.3% he just doesn't have technical expertise in (yet), but he knows exactly who to send us to for it. He wrote the software that gives us security (ASGS), he maintains it, he made it work for FAZ Beta to prevent more of our stupidity, and in general keeps us from destroying everything that is Allegiance. Pook knows when to talk, when to use the stick, when people just need to cool off, and when people are being COMPLETELY out of line. Pook is not the glue that holds this place together; he's the holder of the glue, and knows just where to put it.

Where else could we find someone that has so much technical expertise, available time, leadership ability, concern for happenings here, and fuzzy warmness? I don't have much computing/internet experience, but those things are considered worth more than gold anywhere else in the world.

I appreciate all the hard work that goes into Allegiance so we can play.

I wish I knew better ways to express my appreciation, because these few short lines don't cut it. Anyone up to this challenge?

I'll second all of that.

And add in Tigereye and everyone else on the Helpline (grimm, immz, raveen, many more I'm forgetting).

And aarmsrong, jgbaxter, uhh...Thalgor....spunkmeyer??, and whoever else runs the servers that hold all of the cores we love to play so much, whether on faz test servers or the regular lobby.

Noir for managing the hosting of the allegiance academy. (I think)

Tiger and The_Bored for working on the KB.

The senate, for giving us some semblance of democracy (somewhat rare in multiplayer games of this size)

and last but not least,

Everyone who tests new patches and core updates.

(edit -- the @Allegs. Duh.)

In addition to the above, Noir for being awesome and hosting non-laggy and reliable servers and making DN core, which so many of us love, and Vegeta for contributing two pretty cool factions so we're not strapped for choice!!

Rarely do you get to see nine completely unique factions in a strategy game. Well done guys.

However, Noir's unwillingness to command is a constant source of consternation for many of us. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> (Just remember to sumbit player feedback -> Noir -> Good Commander, heh, heh, heh...)

Hmm, I'm not the most eloquent person and English is not even close to my mother tongue. So, I'll just second what Bard and apathos said.

Keeping Alleg running is one of the most thankless jobs on the planet and I appreciate Thal, Pook, TE, BV and the @Allegs for sticking with us - without them, Alleg would not have survived past Y2K. Without the Helpline, we'd have quarter of the players we have now - thank you Grimm, GV, beauty and all the helpline staff. Without @Cadet, we'd have a quarter of our current playerbase and a squad or two less - thank you Ang, Jell, BV and the rest of the @CDT personnel. Without the dev team, Alleg does not have a future - thank you Dogbones, Radar and the rest of the devteam. And last, and not least, thank you players for sticking with this great game and this community regardless of the quirks and pointy ends all over the place - without pilots, what good is a space game?

Addenum : I forgot! Thank you server hosts. Noir, aarm, baxter and Thal.

And since this is turning into a squaddie appreciation thread,

PK 4 EVAH!

I'm just comic relief... that and... hmm... I guess even MORE comic relief. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Personally I'm happy that so many people are making allegiance what it is today, it's what makes my dealing with the upcoming death of my mother more bearable, that and the grief counslers and meds.

Thanks Pook and Thal for your understanding, much apprecaited. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I appreciate ozzy for getting me up in the morning, and making my coffee the way i like it.

I also appreciate weedman for winning countless games for me that I have commanded.

I appreciate blackviper becuase he is a sexy buffet of manliness.

And Emperor Pookatine because his limas helped me through a very hard time. (its now a very soft time, though that may change in the coming hours.)

Thalgoricus is sweet because he does a lot that we dont realize behind the scenes.

And I appreciate tigger, for being that kid who i want to kick so very much, in the shin. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

Rofl! You think I do the helpline work to a standard that matches Grimm and ImmZ? Seriously, if ever I do post there it tends to be "Wait for someone with a clue" /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I'd like to add the FAZ Devs to the list, they are making this game better and better all the time and get a lot of grief from the community on those rare occasions that they make a mistake or introduce a new bug. These guys spend more time in support of this community than anyone but Thal and Pook I would guess (us @Allegs get to play at least). Here's to the FAZ Team *Drinks copiously* /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I appreciate that I don't have to worry about sleeping late and missing a squadgame because my squad will call me if I do. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

I miss the God-Emperor. :( And his consort. I think BV should switch his avatar to Lima now.

I love the real vets, and the occasional top whores, who will antistack you because they know you can do it if you have the chance- and then help you do it. And everyone who is willing to command primetime, even the ones who shouldn't be doing it.

Also of course those of you that pay for my addiction.
