Greetings everyone,

As the topic suggest I am a new player in the wonderful world of allegiance. I just wanted to stop by the forums and give everyone a big hello and to say that I hope to play with you all soon. I won't be that regular a gamer but I imagine I will be making my appearances every now and then. It seems like a very friendly community and I'm glad to have the chance to experience it, and for free to!

I have spent several hours going over the training sessions and newbie guides so I have a basic understanding of the game. Unfortunately when I went to try my hand at the game I was unable to get a newbie server with any people in it, so I was forced to play in a regular player server. I apologised promptly for my inexperience before the game started and I would like to extend that apology to anyone who might meet me on servers in the coming days. I quickly found out that reading the guides and doing the training missions gives you very basic information and when in an actual game you can be quite easily lost for what to do.

Oh well I shall persevere looking forward to seeing you all out on the battleground soon =)

Gogan, Welcome to Allegiance, and if possible don't play on the newbie server. You will learn alot more playing on the vet server and you will progress much faster. Don't apologise for being new, we were all new at one time. Allegiance has a large learning curve. With your attitude I think you will do great.

have fun
See you in Game

Seconded what Apoch said, and also always ask questions! Don't assume something or copy someone because they may be doing it wrong /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Also, there is a Cadet program which is a must to sign up for when learning the game. (I think all the info is on that page.)

Anyway, Welcome and have fun dude /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Hi there!

Do as apoch said, play a couple games on newbie server to get the feel of ship's handling and hit the main game. Also, don't forget to read up the Allegiance Academy (that's the place, wehre the red link on your desktop leads to /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />). There is info on Cadet program in there (which you want to take if you decide to stick around), lots of useful info on basics on the game and more.

This is a very strrong, close-knit community, one that has overcome the game almost being shut down by microsoft, but we are still standing. Friendly? Most of the time, but if people get caught up in the moment and get fired up, don't be too surprised. You'll find lots of drama on the forums, but you'll find lots of great people who are extremely passionate about the game.

Hope you enjoy the game and stick around, we need more people like you here /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Gogan leave your friendly attitude at the space dock. This is a cut throat community of axe murderers and horse thieves. The weak ones are dispensed of and shipped to FTW with extremities missing.

Hey, Gogan!

The best things that you can do to learn and "survive" here are:
Play on the main server (most of the time)The newbie server is only a place to familiarize yourself with the controls and flyingHave a thick skinSome here are laid back. Others are rude and abrupt: some do it on purpose /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />, others... it's just their personality. People tend to get heated during games. Don't take things personally, but always listen to adviceRead the Cadet I material as you have timeSign up for Cadet I (at some point), and, later, Cadet IIYou'll learn a lot more in these "courses" than just by reading the newbie guide I linked toHave a thick skinKeep a low profileDon't be loud and obnoxious; don't brag about how awesome you are. Basically, don't let your ego get the best of you

Don't let the forums scare you. There is drama here occasionally intermittently, but it doesn't really reach the game itself.

Feel free to ask questions when in the game, but for basic things it's better to check the academy files first.
