Yes, I had an issue of sub 15 fps, Yes it was unplayable... I went thru about a week of hell, until I did a complete wipe and reverted NVIDIA drivers to 162.18 ... Until the issue is fixed Alleg side or until Nvidia acknowledges a fix relevant to Alleg, which is less likely to occur than us fixing the issue, I will not update unless or until I find something that I wish to play more that requires an update...

Currently for Allegiance my problem is solved by the 162.18 version drivers, and I currently get 130+ FPS

I hope by posting a working driver # and system specs I can help someone track down a fix for those with similar specs.. Unfortunately its about all the help I can offer those who are affected... Good luck fixing the FPS issue!

Interesting statistics, out of all the people to install new video cards, half are having problems.

Rough part is any new player coming to the game and not knowing about this will install the game, load up to play, have super choppy experience, un-install and be gone. Poor sap, will never know what they are missing.

It does not seem to be a problem on Vista (or for most people running Vista) so hopefully this will be a transient problem. There is also a solution in the works from the code side of things. I've tried the alpha version and it does fix the problem on the new cards but we don't yet know how badly it effects old(er) equipment.

Have to post a link to this in here:
NVIDIA's Drivers Caused 28.8% Of Vista Crashes In 2007 /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
So it's not just Allegiance. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

8600GT, Vista Home Premium without SP1. I get a few moments of choppiness on entering a new and/or busy sector (this can make camped alephs even nastier because I'm essentially unable to even evade for a second or two, and that can be all it takes for your shields to vape!) but other than that it's fine.

I guess my stats don't really count as I haven't played Allegiance before upgrading to this card, but it definitely seems mostly limited to the nVidia drivers on XP.

To be honest I've had no issues with the drivers causing Vista to crash either. The problems I do have stem from the SearchIndexer (well, it's the most likely suspect, at least) and even then they're not crashes.

That's exactly my problem. Except for the search indexer thing. I don't think that's what's causing it since vista loads the entire game into memory. I have vista ultimate though.

I loose my motivation to help out more and more each day to drama like this. Which is why I am mostly /meh on this point. I will continue to play as I always have, with the morals I have been rasied with and if this community finds they don't like myself and others like me who just enjoy playing the game with their friends on TS or squadies, then they can ban us and my Warhammer account, Girlfriend, and IRL activities will get a lot more attention and will thank them.

Well the only problem is that I believe searchindexer is causing explorer.exe to crash if I enter directories with a large number of files, such as the allegiance artwork directory (which appears to be a complete mess even when sorted) or after it's been running for a long time, even though I've turned it off. It's even tried to index stuff when it's been turned off, so I've taken to suspending the process with Process Explorer (since killing it doesn't do anything - it just starts up again) but that means I can't move stuff around without the progress bar freezing.

'tis very vexing, although mostly harmless.
