Hmm, a ban, an Aeris post, a NightRychune post, an Onion post...

I need to go get my thermo-drama bunker in order. BBIAB!

Bacon wrote:QUOTE (Bacon @ Mar 22 2008, 08:57 PM) You guys are getting pretty ban happy. I'd suggest reminding yourself that it's a game. Banning stackers is extremely subjective.

Not much I can do about it, though, since the admins have given themselves complete control over the community in every regard. It's basically a dictatorship, which is fine since this is just a game, but even in a game, people who get power only want more power. You'll start banning for blatant stacking, then things will move towards banning for stacking in general, then banning for attempted stacking, banning for attempted mutiny, banning for trash talking, banning for not nanning, banning for any number of things. It won't stop, cause you guys have no real reason to stop.

There are other solutions to these problems, but increased reasons to ban people will lead to dissatisfaction with the game and with people leaving. It's very unhealthy for the community, but you guys do what you want... like I said, not like I can stop you. You obviously have put yourself in a position where you will not be argued with, and where you are right 100% of the time, so I'm sure you'll respond to this post by either ignoring it or by restating that you are banning stackers with a firm hand.
What certain admins with a bloated sense of entitlement do not seem to realize, is that this community is just as much ours as it is theirs. The community has been a singular entity for years, and has never strayed or splintered. It doesn't belong to them, it doesn't belong to any two or three individuals. A few people have essentially usurped the power from the entire community at the say so of Thalgor. The senate may have been somewhat ineffective, but at least it was fair.

Yeah. That is what I get.

This is not going to be 'Oh, you're on a team that has higher helo! *Ban*' - It's going to be 'Oh, you waited for that (3) to join the team with lower Helo so that you could join the team that's already up by 30? *Ban*'

There was already that recent unpleasantness with the intentional stacking of small games, so i'm surprised that people didn't see this coming from a mile away. Plus, i agree with what Andon has said as well, it's more about vets ruining the game for newer players who don't know any better (like with the not so long ago Small Game Stackage incidents).

Yeah, except that's not what happened here.

It's not like we can stop it so why make such a big fuss about it let them do what they want to do once the whole community gets fed up then they will have no choice but to stop all of the banning nonscence if they really love the game that is and if they do not then they will probably just step down from their position and then someone will just probably end up filling it in.

So why make such a fuss?

...so is the next release of alleg going to have a button that taps directly into the brains of the BV and TE (sleeping or not) and asks if joining a certain team at a certain time is allowable? If not, then constantly banning after the fact for undocumented reasons assumes BV and TE are perfect judges (which nobody is) and is a blatant abuse of power.

I move that TE and BV both be removed from administratorship if the next release of alleg does not have that button.
I am absolutely serious about this.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY should have that kind of wanton ability to ban players from a game, no matter what side of the stack argument you are on.

Can I get a second to my motion?

There ain't no motions, this is Thalgor's forum and Thalgor's lobby and if he supports BV and TE that's it.

But I think those two gentlemen are sufficiently sane that if they think about this they will realize that perhaps it is not a good idea.

I've got their home phone numbers, slip me 20 bucks and I'll call them at 3am and read any comments you send me. 25 cents a word should be about right, swear words will incur a 400% premium.

If they can't be removed then the alleg community needs to put some serious thought into setting up a seperate system not controlled by the big three.

This is absolutely ridiculous TE, and you know I'm not an admin hater and just talking out of my hat. I've supported every move you guys have made up 'til now even at the risk of pissing off my squadmates.
