I read a few weeks ago and saw on some screenshots that the UI could be modded ( different crosshairs, reticles, readouts, hud configs etc. ) and recently on wikpedia that the game now supported higher res textures.
I took a look at the downloads section, to no avail.

I did forget to mention that if you go hog-wild and download all the hi-res packs you can, you might lag for a bit when entering a sector for the first time as the environments and stuff loads.
Otherwise, it shouldn't matter too much.

I like the music soundtracks, but as you said, turning the music on causes lag, some jerky effects. But I'm sick and bored of playing Microsoft Games without MUSIC! Music sets the mood, the atmosphere~! The game is dull without music! Someone help us out here! I'm begging ya!! /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sad:" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

well then, i will suggest that if you have a fast computer, use .ogg for the allegiance music instead of wav, if you have a slow one, use wav (or don't bother)
