HUD Mod
Is there such a mod for your HUD that tells you your bearing on the x- and y-axis? For some reason, I have a notion that it would improve my spatial awareness without having to constantly check F3, I would know exactly how far I turn (it helps with doubling back from certain objects), and in general it would make flying a bit easier, in my opinion. Does such a mod exist, or would I have to learn how to make mods to obtain it?

Press ALT + F and talk a look at the 2nd line:
pos(x,y,z)
pos(x,y,z)

Doesn't that give a coordinate? I'm looking for more of a degree heading.

on a related note: Whenever you target something, the zoomed in target display on the lower middle of your hud shows your target's orientation relative to you.

I use the grid, mostly when I'm in a tac ship. Still, it's a bit lacking what I really want, for lack of better words.Mesial wrote:QUOTE (Mesial @ Mar 1 2008, 07:53 PM) How about CTL+G? That'll show you the graph while flying.

The bearing system isn't more or less for orientation purposes (actually, it is, but not in the sense you're thinking of) but more of a "position finding" purpose. Like, I want to know if I'm traveling west without looking at F3. I also want to know if I'm going towards or away from plane without having to have the grid on. I'd like to know if I'm going straight up or straight down, which is impossible for me since I always over- or under-rotate. Most importantly, when giving orders I'd like to tell my teammates "there's a tp2 scout at your [insert degree here]-bearing, approx x meters" or something like that.
Also, is there a mod that scales the yellow lines on the grid for you? By that I mean it colors a certain length of the line, and that is supposed to represent 1km or something like that. Possible? Plausible?

Probably better solved with "attack my target" QC/order and then having them "press [insert] to accept" They will autotarget it, and then just follow the arrows on HUD. Also, even though there are some real pilots in Alleg, most of the player-base would not understand bearings. Sounds cool though, especially if you know what you're doing (as it might be more familiar to you).neotoxin wrote:QUOTE (neotoxin @ Mar 2 2008, 01:41 AM) (snip)

The blue grids are a set distance, but the yellow are not, and the easiest way to have them be marked would be to have tick marks every [x]m.
Well of course there's `5, but what if there is no target to display? I don't know, I just feel that my gameplay would benefit from having such a mod.
Tick marks would be a better idea for the yellow lines. I know the blue grid is distance-based (though I can never remember the distances) but it'd be a lot easier for me to calculate distances if I knew how far off-grid I was - and example: say I was in a sb and I wanted to attack a garrison. Say my sb has 100% sig and I want to strike the garrison from a 45 degree angle, just because 45 degrees is my lucky bombing angle. I would want to get in to position as quickly as possible as close as possible with my 100% sig without being eyed. But in order to do what I want currently, I would have to first fly off plane, then fly to my destination, instead of flying just there.
Does that make sense? I know it barely makes sense to me but it does. Point is I want my damn tick marks.
