Is there something wrong here or what? I've seen more 'failed to reconnect to the lobby' when leaving a game and trying to go back to the lobby in last few days than in as many previous months (or years?). Sometimes it lets me back in on 2nd try and sometimes I have to wait 5-10minutes (or just give up).
Seems for all the 'improvements' we just are ending up with more and more problems in allegiance. :(

Windows Version (and Service Packs): XP SP2
Processor Speed: 2.8GHz? (E6750)
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card (Make and Model#): PNY GF7900 GS
Sound Card (Make and Model#): On-board chip, Abit IP35-E MB
Connection Type (Dialup, Cable, DSL, other): Cable
Modem (Make and Model#): Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2
Router (Make and Model#): 3com Officeconnet 11g
Internet Service Provider(company name):earthlink
Location(State/Province/Locality, and Country): Texas
Installed Mods: none

PS. While we're on alleg issues, why does my mouse regularly double click in alleg when I only mean to single click, but I don't have the problem anywhere else?

Danzilla, the improvements are there, but I guess your router does not get upgraded by the devs...

(As you did not post any details regarding your connection, I assume you are behind a router and its firmware causes the problems)

The servers are failing on a regular basis. It has nothing to do with routers. It just happened again at 1:00 e.s.t One group crashed and another group stayed connected. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Read his initial post, he does not have trouble with crashing servers, he has problems reconnecting to them after losing connection.

I haven't changed my router for serveral months, but this unable to reconnect to lobby that's frequently reoccuring I've just noticed in the past week or so. As I DID say in my initial post that the failures were becomming common, in just a matter of days ... as in recently. I haven't made any recent changes to my system or network that would make me think it was on my end or I would have mentioned them.

Still on the off chance it might help, my router is a 3com officeconnect 11g, wireless option, but my system's still hardwired. On a side note, while I had to make changes in my last router's settings for alleg (UPNP?) this one worked right out of the box with alleg.

I know I'm no computer GURU, but I do know the basics. Just don't understand how the problem could be on my end when I haven't changed my computer or network recently. It's not like I get disconnected when I'm just sitting in the lobby either. It works fine when I log in usually, but then fails to reconnect after quiting a game. Then fails to connect if I quit and restart too, but only after the initial failure to reconnect. Then some minutes later it's working again.

Any of these IPs sound familiar? This is from my router log around the time I started up alleg this morning and had the problem once again.

2008/02/23 08:16:19 : Blocked access attempt : UDP from 202.111.175.39:56970 to 64.91.208.12:1026
2008/02/23 08:22:48 : Blocked access attempt : TCP from 59.63.157.211:6000 to 64.91.208.12:8000
2008/02/23 08:28:38 : Blocked access attempt : UDP from 222.162.139.85:41146 to 64.91.208.12:1026
2008/02/23 08:47:04 : Blocked access attempt : UDP from 220.164.140.234:55287 to 64.91.208.12:1026

Now I don't want to go making rash assumptions, but why does turning off my packet inspection seem to help when I didn't have the problem before the last alleg update and it was always on? Again, I haven't made any changes to my system or network prior to this issue starting.

Stateful packet inspection is a known problem for Allegiance. I don't know, why it started to block you out. Nothing has changed here either.

So what about those IPs though? Do we have a list of IPs for alleg servers/lobby I can try and add to trust list or something?

And can't the stateful packet inspection thing be fixed easy enough? If it's just a matter of needing allegiance client to make a new lobby connection each time instead of expecting the old connection to be active or whatnot? (don't be mean now. Like I said, I know the basics, but not expert.) Shouldn't have to turn off packet inspection just for allegiance.

1. SPI adds lag to everything.
2. It adds next to no security unless you want government agency level a-rness.

We can't and won't be changing anything to cater to SPI in routers because a) each router handles it differently, b) it's something that is neither meant to nor used in a gaming environment - it is used to protect mission critical networks.
