Now I understand /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

You are getting so much PM's the server crashes and TE thinks it's a DOSS attack... That explains the horrible lag I have if YOU play /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

We always have lag since we are living 5000 miles apart

Now I start a witch hunt that makes the them look like wussies... I burn all evil persons who dare to crash Alleg during my beloved squadgames.

I like in Peet, me that is

They supposedly did away with that after the Pentuim 3...

I was joking in my previous posts, but now I'm dead serious.

We have the same problem with PunkBuster related games like ET and Quake etc etc. PunkBuster also checks for hardware and software issues and tries to implement a ban, so we can have a good gameplay.

Some dudes created an unban proxy that bypasses all PunkBuster security checks and let you play forever (read: create havoc on our game server and ruin it for the others). The circumventer works flawless and our game server has been taken offline by the ISP until it's playable again (Read: until Punkbuster will detect them).

Don't let that happen to Alleg.

Seems like there is always a war between "exploiters" and "protectors".

Tigereye wrote:QUOTE (Tigereye @ Feb 8 2008, 08:08 AM) This is true. There were multiple cases where the chat clearly indicated that the exploit was used, yet nobody online reported it.

Perhaps more incentive should be given not only for players responsibly disclosing vulnerabilities, but also for players reporting seeing an exploit in action.
It can't be monetary, but I will definitely help out anyone who helps us find these. Unlimited hiders? Special token for a month? Free Supporter+ forum upgrade?

Let's start it now. If you report it (a vulnerability or someone doing something truly "fishy") and it truly happened, then I will reward you.

With pilot077, would it be likely that he was not taken seriously, and thus escaped detection until now?

Also, I noted something strange the other day, when someone spammed @#(!loads of game servers on alleg- is this related to same person?

(Phew, way too many quotes)

I'm more likely to think he was just full of @#(!. Unlimited cash is going to be very easy to spot by his comm and opposing team. There would be cons out everywhere constantly.

I believe the issue was around the damage from guns, not money. It is doable, if you have extensive knowledge of hex, and hex editors, so your Average Joe wouldnt know where to start.

Please stop the speculation. We will not divulge the issue for obvious reasons.

Thanks

I *thought* ASGS checked file integrity of itself and the ALLEG code so hex editing would not be possible?

guys, youve been asked to stop speculating. The thing about these hacks is that the best security is through obscurity, if you really really thought about it, you could most definitely figure it out. that being said, please stop TRYING to figure it out.

again, there are things that we just dont talk about for the sake of the game
