New Max Rank on the Newbie Servers

Maximum Newbie Server Rank to be REDUCED to Rank (4) or less.


WHEN:

Effective February 1st. the official Newbie Servers will be for players ranked 0-4.

What Changed?

Previously a player with up to a rank of (7) Novice could play.

What happens if I play there with a rank of (5) or above?

Any player with a higher rank will be automatically banned by our ASGS software system.

But I did not see this announcement!

Additional messages will be sent via your game account at login. The Academy front page carries an announcement. This News section will carry this notice. Postings in Gameplay, the Wiki, the Cadet program will be made throughout our community.

Will we be warned when we are about to go up in Rank?

Exactly as you are now. Anyone going over a rank 7 is sent an ASGS warning message. It will be changed to anyone going over a rank 4.

Why the change?

We have noticed the original purpose and use of the Newbie Servers has changed. The Newbie servers were created for one reason only. To have a dedicated server where a new player could learn the very basic of skills to allow them to survive in a regular game. Navigation, ship loadout, the F screens/keys, setup key mappings, etc. This server was not intended to be a cap ship whore DM server.

With the release of R4, the ability for players to create their own small games and lock/set max ranks, we no longer need to hold the hands of the brand new player for as long as we used to.
In the new Cadet I program we push players to get off of the newbie servers as soon as possible. Nothing but bad habits are learned there after a few hours of play time.

We want to encourage new players to learn the game the way most of the community plays it.
